Brackenburgh Lodge is highly praised for its cleanliness, comfort, and well-equipped facilities. Guests enjoyed the hot tub, the spaciousness, and the daily cleaned amenities. The lodge's setting offers lovely views and friendly wildlife encounters, contributing to a relaxing and enjoyable stay. While some minor maintenance issues were noted, these did not detract significantly from the overall positive experience.
The lodge is consistently described as very clean, with spotless conditions mentioned in multiple reviews. This suggests a high standard of cleanliness throughout the property.
There is not enough information to accurately score the location. While the proximity to supermarkets and Keswick is mentioned, there are no specific comments on the location's overall convenience or appeal.
Guests found the lodge to be comfortable and roomy, with a good size for families and well-equipped for a relaxing stay. The presence of a hot tub and comfortable furnishings contributed to the high comfort level.
The lodge is well-equipped with USB points, lights, and storage. However, some maintenance issues such as non-operational patio doors, missing lights, and a broken extractor fan were reported, indicating room for improvement.
There are no mentions of gifts or special thoughtful touches provided by the hosts in the reviews, so it is not possible to score this category.
Spacious and luxurious lodge with master king-size bedroom with flatscreen TV and en suite shower room. Large bathroom with bath and overhead shower. Contemporary open plan lounge/dining area with flatscreen TV and electric flame fire. Kitchen with breakfast bar, dishwasher, microwave, oven/hob and integrated fridge and freezer. French doors leading to a large private deck, quality garden furniture, BBQ area and outdoor hot tub covered by a cabana with low level lighting. Large lawned garden with views to the horse paddocks and foothills beyond. Underfloor and central heating.. Calthwaite Hall is uniquely set on the footprint of the barns used for a historic dairy farm and accompanying country house and gardens, this truly magical setting mixes historic country living with contemporary sophistication. Calthwaite maintains the traditions of a Cumbrian village with the old style estate sandstone village with church, primary school and worker cottages. The historic, gothic hall is at the centre of the village yet cleverly maintains the feeling of a hidden hideaway with formal lawned grounds and ornamental ponds designed by William Sawrey Gilpin, historic listed features such as the Portuguese Sweet Chestnut Specimen tree, hidden folly and veteran trees where cuckoos can be heard. No wonder the Howard family (of Castle Howard fame) previously used this as a country residence.
A range of accommodation can be found at Calthwaite Hall to suit everyone including romantic micro-lodges, luxury country cottage and contemporary, cosy lodge style holiday homes. Whichever you choose enjoy a steamy, bubbling hot tub with views to the Cumbrian starry skies or soak up the sounds of the resident peacocks calling to each other alongside the gentle neighing of cute Falabella miniature horses.
Perfectly placed to easily access the popular areas of the central and northern lake district. Calthwaite Hall also makes for easy journeys up to the Scottish borders or amble across into the western Pennine foothills. Traditional market towns, historic Roman remains, isolated fells and stunning waterfalls are all a short drive away.. Patio doors to hot tub didn't open (we were informed on arrival), some lights missing, extractor fan didn't work, need instructions on how to operate central heating, bathroom mirror lights didn't work, but overall minor issues that are easy to live with.

We had a great holiday at this location. I would recommend this place to couples or family's that want to chill and relax and it is dog friendly.
