About this property
Scorton 2.1 miles. This idyllic lodge for two is set beside a babbling brook, amongst wooded fields at the bottom of a farm lane near Scorton, on the edge of the Forest of Bowland AONB. Away from the road, in a clearing overlooking fields and trees, this romantic retreat is the perfect holiday spot for couples visiting the North West of England. Tucked away from the main road, the chalet is accessed by a wooden bridge onto a decked veranda that wraps around the front of the property. Here, you can sit outside and dine alfresco, then relax with a glass of wine in the hot tub!
Inside, there is a cosy, compact kitchen, a sitting area with a woodburning stove, and patio doors opening onto the decking. There is also a modern shower room and a pretty bedroom with lovely views of the brook and fields beyond. Across the fields, you can easily walk to Scorton and enjoy a tasty bite to eat in one of its excellent licensed restaurants. Park Brook Retreat is perched on the edge of an Area of Natural Beauty, so there are plenty of wonderful opportunities for walking and cycling through this picturesque area. If you fancy a challenge, make your way to the top of Nicky Nook behind the village.
When you reach the top, you can see to Morecambe Bay, Blackpool and the Lake District. On a clear day, you can even make out the faint outline of the Isle of Man! Another great place to visit is Wyresdale Park, a beautiful country house estate that often hosts covered markets, but also offers walking and fishing. A wonderful holiday home, with lots to see and do nearby.
Scorton is a village in Nether Wyresdale, on the very edge of the Forest of Bowland aonb. Although it was originally developed around the cotton mill and railway in the 19th Century, today it is most popular with walkers and cyclists seeking refreshment in one of its many pubs. The village also hosts regular Food & Gift Fairs, where you can browse a delightful selection of stalls selling cheese, preserves, jewellery and crafts, to name but a few.
Nicky Nook, its best known landmark, sits at the back of the village and, as it is only a short distance from the A6, the village is a wonderful starting point for exploring Lancashire and the Lake District.

Wild life in abundance both birds and animals. Had good clear skies so was able to watch the stars from the hot-tub. Would highly recommend.

But I can't. Staying here I felt like a Disney princess. Early morning/dusk cue the deer grazing on the slope opposite. Early afternoon and here come the geese having a brief paddle in the stream and disappearing upwards. At any time of the day pheasants wandering about aimlessly (never the smartest of birds, bless, why people shoot them I have no idea as it would be more sporting if the sport was trying to NOT run over them). Finally, the bold squirrel knocks politely at the window asking if you happen to have any treats about you. It's just amazing. The cabin has almost everything you could need for a great stay (1 minor irritation is no bathroom/bedroom bin just kitchen one but it's not that big of a deal). I have always thought that money is for experiences not things and so I always try to book interesting places to stay and have never gone back to the same place twice. I would for this place and am certainly planning to, if not this year then the next. The surrounding area too is so beautiful and not very touristy which I like. I have to say the best holiday I've had in this country.

My wife and I had a wonderful relaxing week far away from lifes everyday pressures. Everything you need is in Park Brook Retreat and the hot tub is a fabulous bonus - we used it every evening to our great pleasure. Also much to my wife's enjoyment our only visitors almost everyday was a very insistant Pheasant and the occasional squirrel - both of which insisted on being fed by hand! Without doubt the pictures on the website are very outdated, shrubs and trees having grown considerably since the photos were taken. However we feel this added to the very private setting! Our only observations are that a mat inside the front patio door would help with keeping the sitting area floor clean! Also if the grass front and back had been cut it would have given a much more enhanced view of the property - particularly on arrival and when sitting on the outside patio! Excellent week we will be back.
