About this property

Resting in Lancashire’s rolling countryside in the heart of the village of Pilling, is the idyllic Vine Cottage. Situated next to the stunning village church, this wonderful holiday home benefits from off-road parking for four cars, a beautiful rear garden with lawn, patio, furniture, under cover hot tub and four well-appointed bedrooms each fitted with Smart TVs; the perfect setting for families or friends looking to experience the wonders of both the coast and countryside in the North West. Cross the threshold into your new home-from-home and head straight into the open-plan living space where you can rustle up tasty meals in the fully-equipped kitchen which can then be enjoyed, together, around the spacious dining table. If the sun is shining, why not step outside to delight in an alfresco affair upon the patio furniture before indulging in a soothing soak in the bubbling undercover hot tub, ideal for watching the stars fill the sky whatever the weather! Spend colder evenings snuggled up in front of the Smart TV and crackling woodburning stove in the sitting room before washing off the day’s adventures in either the ground-floor shower room or the bathroom. Choose between four sumptuous bedrooms to catch up on some well-earned sleep, there is a super-king size (zip/link), a king size with en-suite shower room, a ground-floor king-size and a single.

If you can tear yourself away from this stunning dwelling, head into Stake Pool where you can pick up all your self-catering essentials and enjoy a much-needed break from the kitchen with food and drink at the Elletson Arms or travel to Knott End-on-Sea to test your swing at the golf club which lies alongside the River Wyre before celebrating your wins at The Bourne Arms. Take a day trip to the city of Lancaster to marvel at its medieval castle, the impressive cathedral with stunning architecture or tour Lancaster City Museum and Lancaster Maritime Museum. The city is home to Williamson Park, a vast area filled with woodland, play areas, butterfly house and nature reserve. Drive a little further to visit the seaside town of Morecambe, enjoying the Lake District views whilst strolling the promenade. Those seeking to experience more of the great outdoors can take a scenic drive to the Trough of Bowland a popular rambling and cycling location, or to the Lake District National Park to visit idyllic lake towns like Windermere and Ambleside famous for their watersports and the walks and trails surrounding them.

The seaside resort of Blackpool is easy to reach, where you will find attractions such as Blackpool Tower, The Opera House and the world-famous Pleasure Beach and Illuminations.

All this and more awaits at Vine Cottage.

Located in rural Lancashire between Blackpool and the historic hilltop city of Lancaster, Stake Pool (or Stakepool) is a little hamlet with a different name. Stake Pool is in a great spot, between the Forest of Bowland aonb and other popular tourist destinations including the Yorkshire Dales and Lake District. Small though it may be, the hamlet has all the amenities one could need, including a grocery store for stocking up on essentials and the Elletson Arms, a village pub with a wide selection of drinks and tasty pub food for those lazy days when you just don't feel like cooking. You can easily reach the seaside to enjoy a day basking in the sun on Fleetwood Beach, and families will love checking out all the fun things to do on Blackpool's boardwalk. Those feeling daring can challenge themselves on the rides at Blackpool Pleasure Beach, climb to the top of Blackpool tower for a bird's-eye view of the coast, or ride the Big Dipper, a wooden roller coaster that has been operating since 1923. The seaside is home to the SEA life aquarium and the world-famous wax museum Madame Tussauds, which features many well-known people. You may also go the other way, to Lancaster, and learn more about the area's past at Lancaster Castle and the municipal museum. Stake Pool is a great hub from which to discover the Northwest.

Vine is a beautiful place to holiday at and John and Karen are excellent hosts. We hope to stay again soon. Paul, Gwen and Lulu the Boarder Terrier

We travelled with our two adult daughters and there is enough room for everyone, with a small self contained annex section giving more privacy if needed. There were lots of small touches made by the hosts Karen & John, including a welcome hamper, fresh flowers, and a lovely welcome upon arrival. Nothing has been forgotten about, there are robes and plastic glasses for the huge hot tub and wood for the log burner. This is the best equipped home we've stayed at (and we've used Sykes and Airbnb extensively). Location wise you are in the countryside but close to towns for all the amenities needed. We had mixed weather - but the cottage is cosy and so comfortable. 100% would recommend and will be back!

We have stayed in many such properties over the past few years and Vine Cottage was up there with the best of them. You can tell this really is a loved family property with generations of history. Thank you for a wonderful experience.
