A wonderful limestone cottage with spectacular exposed beams and a wood burner, nestled in the heart of the Peak District National Park.. All on the

Electric underfloor central heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi included. Initial logs for wood burner included. Enclosed garden with sitting-out area and garden furniture. Private parking for 1 car. No smoking.. This idyllic barn conversion can be found in the beautiful Peak District village of Parwich, which in 2015 was quite wonderfully voted by the ‘Sunday Times’ as one of the best places to live in Britain.
Set out over one level, upon entering the cosy cottage, you’ll find an open plan living space with a spectacular beamed ceiling and wood burner. The kitchen is beautifully finished with a granite work surface, and in the cosy bedroom you’ll find a double bed and en-suite facilities. For that extra element of luxury the property benefits from underfloor heating throughout. Outside is a small seating area perfect for enjoying the goings on of village life.
Set around a pond and village green, Parwich is home to a delightful country pub and makes a great base for exploring the surrounding Peak District countryside. Keen walkers will relish the excellent routes available across the nearby High Peak & Tissington Trails, together with Dovedale and Carsington Water. Nearby you’ll also find the pretty villages of Ilam (20 mins) and Alstonefield (10 mins), and the market towns of Ashbourne (15 mins) and Leek (35 mins). The magnificent country houses of Chatsworth House and Kedleston Hall are a 30-minute drive, and as for any thrill seekers there is Alton Towers!

The cottage was very clean, the bed was comfortable but one side was right up against the wall. This meant that if the person next to the wall needed to get out in the middle of the night they had to disturb their partner to get out and to get back in again. There is also a shelf over the head of the bed on the wall side, so mind your head if you get up quickly. This is not clear in the photographs.We also found it difficult to watch the TV as it is set so high on the wall. The kitchen equipment is excellent and the owners very friendly, they were very quick in putting right the lack of hot water on two occasions when the boiler locked out.The Sycamore Tree pub serves very good meals and staff are friendly and welcoming.

We love this particular place to stay. We find it peaceful, relaxing and an ideal chill-out location. Parwich has a sense of being isolated from the rest of the world and the accommodation encourages that feel. We look forward to returning.

We had a lovely stay at the Old Damson tree barn in Parwich, Derbyshire. Parwich is a lovely village (with a pub)! The only problem is that there is only one decent road to get to it - from Ashbourne. There are a couple of other roads, but they are very narrow and twisty and I would not recommend those.The Old Damson tree barn is a lovely quiet place to stay for a couple, with all necessary facilities. The TV is high up on a wall, so you would need something to support your neck! There was no visitors book to sign however.The only other suggestion I would make is to have somewhere in the kitchen area to hang up wet clothing!!The owner made us very welcome - meeting us on arrival and also on departure. She also left us with a small welcome pack of biscuits and coffee which was appreciated.
