Local villages have fetes and flower festivals during the summer, and you will never be far away from tea and cake! When you return to Sunnylea, you might simply relax in the sunny south-west facing garden, or in the winter months, in front of the open range. However, should you wish to eat out, the village has two pubs serving good food within a five minute walk. A 15 minute walk over the fields will take you to the Packhorse in Little Longstone, an unspoilt country pub, popular with walkers, which also serves good food.

The cottage was clean and comfortable. Location is excellent - quiet, but with 2 pubs (serving food) within 2 minutes walk, and very convenient for visiting the area. The welcome pack of food and drink was much appreciated. Overall, we would recommend it. The downsides were - Because of the location of the cottage (in a dead-end) it is necessary to turn the car around each time you park. This was manageable for us as we have a medium sized car, it was daylight whenever we parked, and (crucially) the neighbouring cottage was unused the whole time we were there and so didn’t have a car there. Had the neighbouring property been occupied it would have made turning round/parking a lot more difficult. This should be mentioned in the property description, perhaps with a warning for anyone with a large vehicle. The outside of the conservatory and the path/patio area just outside the conservatory could do with a good clean and tidy up. The steps up to the patio (from the conservatory) are quite narrow, and were made narrower by overgrowing plants and plant pots on the steps. One of the steps seemed slightly wobbly. Some of the doors are quite squeaky (as is the toilet seat when raised/lowered), which is not ideal when getting up in the night and trying to avoid waking others. Some WD40 would be worth a try. The drawers in the chest of drawers opposite the toilet are quite hard to open. The microwave is very small - it is not possible to fit a normal sized dinner plate in it, which is not ideal if you are trying to warm a whole plate of food.

A small cottage set in a lovely village. It has an old fashioned open fire which is quirky and keeps you cosy on those chilly evenings. It is spotlessly clean and the host is friendly and helpful. Overall it is a comfortable stay but possibly ready for updating.
