Hartington is set in glorious countryside with its village duck pond, great pubs, the local stores and famous cheese shop. Scenic walks go off in every direction; down into lovely Dovedale, across to magnificent Manifold Dale or over the ‘tops’ on the Midshire’s Way.
All Derbyshire’s other attractions – castles, caverns, cable cars, canals, steam trains, tram rides, wildlife sanctuaries, watersports, historic houses, craft centres and theme parks, including Alton Towers, - are all within a 20-minute drive.

Comfortable and well equipped cottage which was ideal for seven of us and two dogs, although it is a bit of a disadvantage having to keep them on the lead due to the sheep in the adjacent field. This was clearly pointed out in the description of the cottage so no complaints from the humans but the dogs weren’t too happy!! Hartington is a lovely village with lots of walks right on your doorstep and a few shops which stock the basics. The Fish and Chips van visits on a Friday evening and was a real treat. Enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend.

Well equipped cottage and great location. A few cobwebs in the corner but nothing that would stop us visiting this cottage again.
