Guests say

Ivy Cottage in Matlock offers a peaceful and cosy retreat with old-world charm, surrounded by large gardens and scenic views. It's well-situated for exploring the Peak District, with thoughtful touches like starter milk and cakes. While some guests found the cottage to be a quaint and tranquil haven, others noted areas for improvement, particularly in cleanliness and maintenance.

Several reviews mention the need for a deep clean and the presence of a musty smell, suggesting that cleanliness could be significantly improved.

The cottage is praised for its quiet, rural location with easy access to local attractions and walks in the Peak District, making it an ideal base for exploring the area.

Guests appreciate the cosy atmosphere and comfortable beds, but some have raised concerns about the cold temperature inside the cottage and the quality of the sofa.

While the cottage is equipped for basic needs, there are reports of inadequate hot water supply, a small TV with poor reception, and a mouldy washing machine, indicating that the facilities require attention.

The provision of starter items like milk and cakes is well-received, but as these gifts are not guaranteed for every stay, guests should consider them a pleasant bonus rather than an expectation.

A cosy retreat for a relaxing break. This was our second visit and we have already booked for later this year. We took advantage of the mild January weather to go on some great walks all within a couple of miles of the cottage. Thanks to the owner Mrs. Potter again.
