Guests say

The Lillies in Matlock is a well-received holiday rental, praised for its spaciousness, comfort, and well-equipped kitchen. Guests appreciate the property's suitability for large family gatherings and its proximity to local attractions. While some minor maintenance issues and parking challenges are noted, the overall sentiment is positive, with many guests expressing a desire to return.

Most guests found The Lillies to be clean and well-maintained, contributing to a comfortable stay. However, a few guests mentioned areas where cleanliness could be improved, such as attention to detail in the kitchen and bathrooms. These comments were not widespread, suggesting that the property is generally kept to a high standard of cleanliness.

The location of The Lillies is generally seen as ideal for exploring the Peak District, with easy access to Matlock, Bakewell, and other attractions. Some guests mentioned road noise and a busy front road as drawbacks, but these did not significantly detract from the overall positive experience of the location.

Guests consistently report that The Lillies offers a comfortable stay, with ample space, cosy surroundings, and comfortable beds. The property is described as warm and welcoming, with a homely feel that many guests appreciated.

The Lillies is equipped with a range of facilities that guests found useful, including a well-stocked kitchen and appliances. Some guests suggested improvements such as additional showers for large groups and minor maintenance on items like oven gloves and bathroom drainage. Overall, the facilities met the needs of most guests.

While guests have mentioned thoughtful touches like Christmas decorations, there is not enough information to assess the consistency of such gestures across different stays. As such, it is not possible to provide a score for thoughtfulness, but guests should note that while gifts and special touches may be provided, they are not guaranteed.

The house is in a good location - near Matlock Bath and also Bakewell in the other direction. There is lots of space (there were 10 of us including 4 kids aged 6 - 13 years) and we could all fit around the kitchen table comfortably. A well equipped kitchen (although we couldn't find a fish slice for making fried eggs so we had scrambled instead). Fantastic bathrooms, no one had to queue for a toilet as there are 4 of them!) Everyone reported a great night's sleep too! A fantastic stay, thank you. The niggles: The 'scraping' noise the chairs make on the floor when leaving the table - perhaps some furniture pads underneath the chair legs would solve this? The leather is torn on the double bed in the ensuite bedroom. This doesn't affect sleep but is a bit of an eyesore when guests first walk in. None of this spoilt our time there though, they are just 'food for thought' for the future.

We travelled from Fife, Scotland and visited various local attractions plus Alton towers which was a 50 minute drive away. There was a Sainsbury's and an Aldi both 10 drive away and a co-op and a few takeaways 2 minutes away. Peak shopping village was about 15 minutes away. There was plenty of space for everyone and plenty of seating in the lounge and at the dining table. Electric Oven took some getting use to, but I think this was just because we have a gas cooker at home. There is plenty of kitchen ware, cutlery etc and a dishwasher. There's a washing machine and a tumble dryer which was amazing with 5 kids with us. There was a problem with the en suite shower, a leak was coming through to the living room (we did send a text about this, we think it was either the drain or possibly the seal at the wall as there was no water outside of the shower on the floor) so after the first use we avoided using it for the rest of the stay to prevent any damage, meaning there was only one shower between 9 of us but we managed, having 4 toilets was a big bonus though. Beds were comfy and there's plenty of space for clothes. Parking was ok, but we only had 2 cars between us and the cottage next door had 3 cars between them, there was a diagram to show how and where to park but we felt this just wouldn't work unless everyone had small cars so we parked at the front of the house and my parents parked at the back outside the garage doors. All in all we had a lovely stay and wouldn't hesitate to return and recommend to others
