Guests praise the spacious, well-stocked kitchen, comfortable beds, and beautiful garden, perfect for relaxing or play. The local pub is friendly and serves good food. While the cottage's characterful steep stairs and proximity to the road may not suit everyone, most found it a delightful base for exploring the Isle of Wight. Most guests found the cottage clean and comfortable, particularly the beds and bathroom. However, a few noted issues on arrival, such as a sticky kitchen table and some dead flies, which were quickly addressed by the owner.
The cottage is well located for exploring the island, with a lovely village atmosphere and a good local pub nearby. Some guests mentioned the road can be a little noisy and access is close, but overall the setting is highly appreciated.
Guests enjoyed the comfortable beds, spacious kitchen, and cosy living areas. The steep and narrow stairs may be challenging for those with mobility issues, but most found the cottage homely and relaxing.
The kitchen is exceptionally well equipped, and the garden is large and secure. There are plenty of games and even a vinyl collection for entertainment. Some minor maintenance points were noted, such as tired decor and basic Wi-Fi, but overall facilities are excellent.
The owner is praised for being responsive and helpful, and torches are provided for guests due to the lack of street lighting. While some thoughtful touches are mentioned, such as games and dog-friendly features, gifts are not referenced and cannot be guaranteed.

Great location and beautiful looking cottage. I would say the internal decor is looking a little tired and needs a 'touch up'. Stairs are quite tight and steep, especially if you struggle with mobilisation. The Wi-Fi was just about OK, with a poor BT home hub from an analogue copper phone line! No fibre just yet. No signal in to the garden and would recommend a range extender or access point upstairs and in the garden due to the cottage walls being so thick and garden being so long. The local pub, 'The Crown' is OK and the outside seating is lovely. I would say the food is average with prices higher than expected for the food served, possibly due to not much passing trade and being a tourist location. There are no local shops to buy essentials, such as milk etc. as the post office was closed the entire time we were there and had to travel to Newport where the Sainsbury's provided everything we needed. Some lovely places to visit and made the most of the time we had. Highlights include the Garlic Farm, Ventnor, Shanklin, The Needles and Bembridge (Lane End) as it has a great natural barrier (once the tide is out) for kayaking and paddle boarding safely.

This charming cottage was the perfect homely stay for our week on the island. The kitchen is very well equipped, bathroom sizeable, comfortable beds and sofa’s, and a plethora of games for quality family time. The garden gets the sun for most of the day, so it was perfect for stealing a few minutes in the morning or evening to read a few pages of a book. The only slight downfall was the road next to the house, it can be a little noisy and access is quite close. That being said, it wouldn’t stop us from staying there again.Shorwell was well located for us to explore Shanklin (Chine), Compton Bay, Alum Bay and Blackgang Chine. This really was an ideal stay and we hope to be back again!
