Guests say

Cherry Cottage is set in a beautiful, peaceful location near the coast, offering a tranquil retreat with helpful and friendly ownership. Guests appreciated the well-equipped cottage and comfortable beds, and many enjoyed the picturesque surroundings. However, some visitors noted issues with cleanliness, maintenance, and comfort, particularly regarding the sofas, mattresses, and shower. While the cottage has great potential and several guests would return, improvements in upkeep and attention to detail would enhance the overall experience.

Reviews are mixed, with some guests finding the cottage clean and tidy, while others reported significant issues such as dust, hair, and food stains. Several comments highlighted the need for more thorough cleaning.

The location is consistently praised as beautiful, quiet, and close to the coast, making it a standout feature of the property.

While some guests found the beds comfortable and the cottage cosy, others experienced discomfort due to worn-out sofas and mattresses, as well as a lack of water pressure in the shower.

The cottage is described as well-equipped, but there were issues with the TV, oven, shower, and Wi-Fi. Some facilities were replaced or repaired during stays, but overall maintenance could be improved.

The owner is frequently mentioned as friendly and helpful, meeting guests on arrival and assisting with issues. Please note that while some guests experienced attentive service, specific gestures or gifts are not guaranteed.

Enjoyed the Stay very much. Susan the owner was very friendly and helpful and the area on the South of the island is beautiful. The cottage has everything you need. You do have to run around to get wet in the shower and have a few pound coins ready to top up the electric. Would definitely go back

Unfortunately, we were very disappointed with the cleanliness, condition and overall standard of this holiday let.On arrival, the property was clearly not cleaned to an acceptable standard. There was dust everywhere, including thick dust on the bedding and lampshades. The sofas were covered in dog hair, with crumbs in and underneath them. The bathrooms were also very dusty, and around and behind the toilets there was visible dirt and grime that looked as though it had not been properly cleaned for some time. The kitchen was equally disappointing. The oven was broken when we arrived, although to be fair, the owner did arrange for this to be replaced during our stay. However, there was still food debris and dirt around the sides of the cooker area, and the furniture had old food stains and marks smeared across it. To make matters worse, we had ants all over the kitchen every morning. The shower also had virtually no water pressure, with the water only trickling out, which made using it very difficult. The beds were another major issue. All of the beds were extremely uncomfortable, with springs clearly felt through the mattresses and digging into our backs. This made getting a decent night's sleep very difficult. The furniture throughout the property was also old, worn and tatty, which added to the overall feeling that the accommodation was in need of some serious attention and updating. We raised these issues with the owner during our stay, but unfortunately she appeared quite unfazed. We were told that she would see what she could do about the ants, but aside from arranging the replacement oven, nothing else was provided or done to resolve the problems. The property was also advertised as having Wi-Fi, but the Wi-Fi did not work at all during our stay.Overall, the standard of cleanliness, comfort and maintenance was nowhere near what we would expect from holiday accommodation. While we appreciate that the oven was replaced, there were simply too many other issues with the property, and the lack of response to the majority of the problems we raised made the experience even more disappointing.Based on our experience, we would not stay here again and unfortunately would not recommend this property to others.

Unfortunately we were unable to stay after the first night. The whole place is very tired. The living/dining area was very poorly cleaned e.g old food smears on the back of the chairs, human and animal hair all over sofas. The sofas themselves desperately need replacing, as do the mattresses. But worst of all was the smell throughout the cottage. Such a shame as the location is great and with some refreshing it could be lovely. The internet did work well, which was lucky as meant we could book alternative accommodation for rest of our stay.
