Guests say

Southview Cottage offers a peaceful rural retreat with a spacious, secure garden ideal for dogs and a convenient location for exploring the Isle of Wight. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen and homely atmosphere, with several mentioning the comfort and practicality of the property. While some reviews note areas for improvement in cleanliness and maintenance, the cottage remains popular for its tranquillity, dog-friendly features, and thoughtful touches. The property is especially suited to those seeking a quiet escape with easy access to local attractions.

Cleanliness receives mixed feedback. Several guests found the cottage clean and tidy, but others noted issues such as dust, cobwebs, and tired furnishings. Some mentioned a stale smell and areas needing a deeper clean, particularly in the bathroom and on windows.

The location is highly praised for its quiet, rural setting and central position on the island, making it easy to reach attractions and beaches. Guests also appreciated the proximity to local walks and a friendly pub.

Most guests found the cottage comfortable, highlighting the homely feel, comfy beds, and suitability for dogs. However, a few mentioned old mattresses, damp towels due to lack of bathroom heating, and basic bathroom facilities.

The cottage is generally well-equipped, with a good kitchen and helpful information folder. Some guests noted missing items (e.g., iron, mop), basic or dated bathroom/shower, and a need for refurbishment in places.

Several guests appreciated thoughtful touches such as a welcome pack with dog treats and wine, though these are not guaranteed. The information folder and enclosed garden for dogs were also well received.
