No smoking.. Nestling at the foot of the North Downs is Fig Cottage, a detached, listed former farm building. It resides within the owner’s 8-acre grounds and small holding, including a vineyard which guests are free to enjoy. This Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty provides access to footpaths and cycle routes, enabling you to explore the glorious, rural surroundings and enjoy horse riding and golf nearby. There is a local company from where you can hire electric bikes. Fig Cottage is ideally located for exploring Canterbury, just 9 miles away, where the skyline is dominated by its historic cathedral and is the oldest in England. For a day at the coast, towns such as Whitstable famous for its oysters, Hythe’s pebble beach, and Sandgate with interesting antique shops, are all well worth a visit. There is easy access to the Eurostar and the Channel Tunnel for those looking for something further afield in France, so don’t forget to bring your passport! Something closer to home is the local pub, where it not only feeds the family after a day’s exploring, it also provides a venue for craft fairs and farmers’ markets, and won an award for ’Kent pub of the year’ in the Kent life awards. Wonderful cottage , great location and a host who really looked after us. Had a brilliant wine tasting and loved Rollo the dog . Great pub up the road . We will be back as loved it.

This is a lovely cottage, which we’d strongly recommend. There was a warm welcome from the owner, Hester, and her two friendly dogs. The cottage itself is really comfy, has all you’d need and is great value. There’s also large grounds at the rear and a vineyard, which the wife assured me produces delicious wine! There’s also a great pub, The Five Bells, just a few minutes away serving delicious food and great beer and wine. We certainly intend to return in the future.

Fabulous cottage. Really comfortable & relaxing with everything you need. Very quiet surroundings. Wonderful grounds with hens, geese, doves, dogs and the vines. Very tasty meal in the 5 bells which is 5 minutes walk down the quiet road. Lovely surroundings for walking & getting away from it all - direct access to the North Downs Way from the cottage. Very easy drive to Canterbury which is well worth a visit. We had such an enjoyable long weekend and look forward to visiting again. T
