The Bothy in Canterbury offers a tranquil and peaceful setting, ideal for dog owners and those seeking a rural retreat. Guests appreciate the property's quiet location, enclosed garden, and proximity to walking trails and historical sites. The comfortable beds and welcoming hosts contribute to a pleasant stay, although some guests suggest that the property could benefit from updates and better cleaning.
Reviews indicate a mix of experiences regarding cleanliness. Some guests found the property to be less than impressive, noting cobwebs and outdoor areas needing attention, while others did not raise cleanliness as an issue. This suggests that cleanliness is generally satisfactory, but there is room for improvement.
The location is highly praised for its peacefulness, dog-friendly environment, and proximity to historical sites and nature walks. The quiet, secluded setting is consistently mentioned as a highlight of the property.
Guests find the beds comfortable and the living spaces cosy, contributing to a restful experience. However, some guests mention that the property feels a bit tired and the bedding quality could be improved, indicating that comfort is generally good but with some areas that could be enhanced.
The Bothy is equipped with amenities such as Wi-Fi and a full-size fridge freezer, and guests appreciate the enclosed garden and the fireplace. However, some guests report issues with the fire smoking and a lack of certain conveniences like hand towels and modern TV options, suggesting that while facilities are adequate, maintenance and updates are needed.
Several guests mention a welcome pack, which adds a thoughtful touch to their arrival. However, the contents of the welcome pack and the provision of basic supplies like tea towels and hand towels seem to vary, indicating that while the hosts are considerate, consistency in thoughtfulness could be improved. It should be noted that gifts are a kind gesture and not guaranteed.

The Bothy provided a lovely weekend getaway in a quiet, secluded location, great acces to nearby sights of interest such as Canterbury Cathedral (about 20 minutes drive) and Sandwich to the east. The guidebook provided was really helpful in giving pointers and had a great walk from Sandwich to the coast and back which we enjoyed. There were a couple of things mising that did eventually get sorted but would have been good to have them from the off. Having said that, we did enjoy our stay and would recommend the cottage if you wanted to stay in Kent!

We loved our week long stay! Felt right at home, slept really well, enjoyed the log fire and we had all the bits we needed to cook and settle in quickly. The secure garden was great for the dog!

Cottage was comfortable although no shampoo and barely enough hand wash for the weekend. There was no WiFi which was fine but would benefit from a more up to date SMART tv with at least iPlayer options. On a plus, a lovely location with plenty of walks around and close drives to the coast.
