Perched directly above the river, with sweeping views across and down towards the harbour, this former art studio of two acclaimed post-war artists exudes rustic charm. Its enviable location offers an authentic slice of Polperro life, perfectly complemented by the surrounding natural beauty and peaceful atmosphere.
On the ground floor of this traditional cottage, a compact kitchen diner provides everything you need, with a narrow stable door leading out to a private decking area—a perfect spot for enjoying morning coffee while soaking in the river views. This level also features a cosy twin bedroom and a downstairs cloakroom for convenience.
Upstairs, the living room is a comfortable retreat, furnished with twin leather chairs, a leather sofa, and a large wood-burning stove, making it the perfect place to relax after a day of exploring, even more so on a stormy night. The room also includes a large TV for entertainment. A double bedroom and a bathroom with a double shower complete the upper floor. The outdoor decking runs the full length of the cottage, offering uninterrupted views across the river and harbour—a truly tranquil setting.
Polperro itself is full of charm, with boutique shops, art galleries, and a diverse selection of eateries. The village’s rich history of smuggling, especially of tobacco and whisky, is captured in the local museum. At the same time, the once-thriving herring fishing industry also adds to the town’s fascinating heritage. The narrow streets are ideal for leisurely walks, offering picturesque views at every turn, and the nearby beach provides a perfect escape.
For those who love hiking, the Coast Path offers breathtaking vistas as it climbs away from the harbour, with views that will leave you spellbound. Quirky cottage in wonderful location.Premises very tired and not very clean. Bedding and towels were exceptionally clean. PAT testing well out of date. Underfloor heating blew the main fuses! Gas hob would not ignite, appeared to have no gas supply. Tumble drier very old and not working. Windows needed attention as some wouldn’t open and wind howled through the frames.Competitively priced, but can see why.Would not recommend as did not feel safe in the premises.

We enjoyed our stay at the harbour studio, the location is amazing. We appreciate the age of the building but the windows do need attention. The Aga was brilliant to cook on and the kitchen well equipped. There was no logs/fire lighters left for a fire and not one dishwasher tablet so we washed up by hand. The welcome pack was poor with no biscuits left even though mentioned. The bed was very comfortable but there was evidence of previous guests under the bed and between dressing table. We were concerned that pat testing was out of date on electrical appliances, but our overall experience was good and we enjoyed our stay.
