Guests say

Tregiffian Vean is a spacious cottage with stunning views and a great location near the beach, ideal for families and dog owners. Guests appreciate the property's warmth, well-equipped kitchen, and the ability to accommodate large groups. While some areas require attention, the unique charm and excellent position often outweigh these concerns.

The property generally receives positive remarks on cleanliness, with guests finding the rooms clean and tidy. However, there are mentions of specific areas needing more thorough cleaning, such as dusty conservatories and full bins from previous occupants.

The location is highly praised for its stunning views, proximity to the beach, and private, quiet surroundings. It is considered central for local attractions, though some guests note the steep walk to the beach may not suit everyone.

The property is appreciated for its spaciousness and airy rooms. However, there are comments about uncomfortable beds and dated furniture, suggesting room for improvement in overall comfort.

Facilities are adequate with a well-equipped kitchen and ample space. Nonetheless, guests report issues with maintenance such as non-functioning windows, a lack of outdoor seating, and the need for updates in bathrooms and kitchen appliances.

While some guests mention welcome packs and the acceptance of an extra dog, there is insufficient information to determine a consistent level of thoughtfulness across reviews. Therefore, it cannot be guaranteed that such gestures are a standard offering.

About this property

Approach this grand, spacious coastal retreat along a sweeping private drive, with jaw-dropping ocean views unfolding to your left. Set in extensive grounds, Tregiffian Vean offers an authentic taste of Cornwall’s rugged beauty and is perfectly positioned for those who love the sea.

Inside, the house boasts four generous bedrooms, including a master double with French doors leading to the courtyard, a ground-floor twin, and two further bedrooms accessed via just three steps.

The interiors are light-filled and spacious, with multiple living areas designed for relaxation. A first-floor informal sitting room frames panoramic views of the garden and the Atlantic, while another welcoming lounge invites you to unwind after a day exploring. The golden sands of Sennen Beach are nearby, where you can book a lesson with the award-winning Sennen Surfing Centre, located right on the shore. After an invigorating session on the waves, treat yourself to a sauna at Bos Sauna, perched on the edge of the cove with sweeping Atlantic views, best followed by a refreshing sea dip. For relaxed beachside dining, the laid-back Sennen Surf Lodge offers a great spot to refuel with the sound of the surf in the background.

Back at the house, practical touches make coastal living easy, including an outdoor tap, ideal for rinsing sandy wetsuits, muddy walking boots, or salty paws after a day out exploring.

After a day on the waves or trails, head to the much-loved The Old Success Inn or the historic First and Last Inn, both within walking distance, for hearty food and a local pint. A nearby village shop adds to the convenience.

Great for family gatherings. I would come again. This is useful feedback for owners I hope: One of the single beds is horribly uncomfortable and not fit for purpose, the springs dig into you etc. This needs replacing urgently. Wooden floors are great but noise travelled a lot if someone wanted an early night. Maybe a few thick rugs in the living room? One started toilet roll per toilet just felt a bit mean. No hand towels in upstairs toilet. All that said, it is a unique and interesting house and there were a lot of thoughtful touches, dishwasher tablets, games etc.

The location is brilliant if you like being a bit more remote, and the path to the beach was well used by our family. We enjoyed the various living spaces in the property, and apart from one of the single beds found the beds comfortable. The house was a little tied round the edges, but this didn’t impact our stay. (Things like an outdoor washing line would have made a difference.) However we would happily revisit.

As other reviews state, the house itself is a bit tired and needs updating, but this didn't really detract from the week we spent there.
