Wow -what a find. we booked this beautiful cottage pretty last-minute. It more than met our expectations. It has clearly been recently renovated - everything was of an excellent quality - comfy beds, clean and plentiful seating, a well equipped kitchen and overall fabulousness! Outside are 2 storeys of decking (it is built on a cliff face) from which we were able to watch the solar eclipse and the meteor shower! Amazing dark skies ...The village is quaint but a thriving working port, and the locals are very friendly - the male voice chorus entertains weekly in the harbour throughout August and are happy for you to join them for a singalong in the pub afterwards! The numerous chippies offer the local catch, and you will find ice-creams to suit everyone. We spent a morning pootling around the little museum and aquarium. It is on Eden's doorstep and within easy reach of numerous tourist hotspots. However I would recommend taking a 45 minute boat ride - we were lucky enough to be joined by 2 pods of dolphins. (Turn up early if you want the ferry though - we couldn't get a seat hence the spontaneous trip to see the dolphins...)Parking in the local side-streets is just a few minutes walk away - the road through the town can be a bit of a challenge though with very narrow streets!Overall I would recommend this to anyone- we would definitely go back.

We had a great week here. The house is really spacious with fantastic views over the harbour from every room as well as when sitting on the lovely outside decked area . The beds were very comfortable and kitchen well equipped . Mevagissy itself was a lovely place to wander round , with many good eateries . We enjoyed the local beaches and coast walks from the doorstep and visiting the very nearby gardens of heligan .
