The kitchen is well-equipped with all the essentials for a week away, allowing you to whip up a delicious meal for all the family; when the sun is shining, take the party outside to the enclosed rear garden, complete with outdoor furniture and a barbecue so you can grill up a feast with ease. If you begin to feel sleepy, head upstairs to the three bedrooms; two doubles and a bunk bedroom so your little ones can enjoy a good night’s sleep. Freshen up in the bathroom with a long soak or revitalising shower before hunkering down in preparation for another day of exciting adventures. Once an important pilchard-fishing village, today Portscatho is a popular holiday destination for those seeking a traditional seaside location. Brimming with Cornish charm, there is a sandy beach and a harbour, as well as a pub, a butcher’s, a greengrocer’s and a handful of gift shops and galleries. The coastline here is most scenic, with hidden coves, secret beaches and mile upon mile of undulating coastal footpath. The village of Gerrans is just a short stroll along the shore, and the beautiful Porthcurnick beach is also accessible via the coast path from Porthscatho. Portscatho offers a holiday away from it all, with a welcoming community spirit and several annual events which everyone gets involved with – including the fish festival each August.
