Stoat Lodge is a stunning two bed retreat in a central location overlooking Bridgwater Bay and the River Parrett Estuary, it comfortably sleeps four people and offers rustic qualities with exposed beams and an electric wood burner. The master bedroom has a built-in wardrobe, en-suite shower room and a feature wooden headboard for the king size bed. The second bedroom has two single beds which can be made into a double bed with another feature headboard. The living area is bright and spacious offering extensive views and plenty of family space, meanwhile the private hot tub is tucked away surrounded by trees and shrubbery.. We’ve just returned from a wonderfully relaxing week at Henfields Country Retreat, and it’s safe to say we’re already counting down the days until our next visit!From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the beautifully maintained, secure gated grounds. The site features eight individual lodges, and we stayed in Stoat Lodge — a private haven with plenty of space between lodges, offering a real sense of seclusion.Stoat Lodge was immaculate and tastefully decorated, truly a home away from home. It came fully equipped with everything we could possibly need — plus some lovely surprises like a welcome hamper, robes, and towels specifically for the hot tub. Smart TVs in every room and a super comfy bed made it easy to unwind after a day of exploring.The hot tub was a highlight — enclosed by deck fencing for privacy and checked daily between 9am and 10:30am. This consistent schedule was a thoughtful touch that made planning our dips stress-free, unlike other places we’ve stayed where maintenance felt unpredictable.While the retreat itself is tucked away from immediate amenities, it’s ideally located for exploring Somerset’s many attractions. The reception area is stocked with brochures to help plan your outings, and there are shops, pubs, and supermarkets within a 15-minute drive — everything you need is close by.We were greeted by Nicky, the owner, who personally showed us around the lodge. Her warm welcome set the tone for the week. Although we didn’t need to reach out during our stay, it was clear she would have been responsive and helpful if we had.Henfields Country Retreat exceeded our expectations in every way. Peaceful, pristine, and perfectly placed for a Somerset escape. We’ve already booked to return next year — and that’s the best endorsement we can give!
