No smoking. Please note: No children.. Leighwood Cottage is a modern and quaint property, overlooking Occombe Woods. Through the entrance hallway, the bright, airy, and well-equipped kitchen is on your left. There is a very handy utility room opposite, where you will find a washer/ dryer and toilet facilities. The living/ dining room is next to the kitchen, sliding glass doors bring the outside in, leading you out and down the steps onto the rear patio area.
A peaceful space to sit, elevated above the treeline where you can enjoy the view whilst enjoying your morning coffee or an evening tipple with the setting sun. The path winds down through the garden and a gate leads you into the woodland, to enjoy gorgeous morning/afternoon strolls through the trees to relax and rejuvenate. The bedroom boasts a queen-sized bed and fitted wardrobes. The modern, ensuite bathroom benefits from a freestanding bath as well as a separate shower cubicle.
Leighwood Cottage is situated in a well-regarded area of Upper Preston and is located some 1.3 miles (a good healthy walk, or a couple of minutes drive), from the well-known Preston Sands and seafront greens. Preston is located just outside of the hustle and bustle of Paignton town, while still being close to link roads for travelling and exploring the rest of Torbay and the South Hams.
A favourite among locals is the nearby Occombe farm café, within easy walking distance (0.7 miles) up the road from the property, for a hearty breakfast/lunch. Another favourite is the Church House Inn, a traditional pub with a beamed ceiling and exposed stone wall, just a 5-minute drive away (1.5 miles), and serving great local food and drink. The closest pub is Ye Olde Smokey, which is a little over 1 mile away and is famous for its weekend carveries. Whatever your reason for visiting the area, this is a great base from where to start.

Excellent place to stay we have been twice and love it for comfort and everything you need for a good holiday, easy to travel to various locations and a lot of things to do round about the area .

The place is lovely. The kitchen is equipped.There two toilets,wash dryer. Bathroom is lush .I did use the bath. Comfortable bed. One best place with stay in for long time. The place is for a couple. We did meet Mike and had lovely chat with him. The little touched was lovely. Bottle of wine ,biscuits and milk in fridge. Lovely welcome card as well. It when we walk into the bungalow it was wow . We will be back.

We had a lovely stay in this bungalow.It is a very clean and welcoming bungalow with great views and a lovely comfortable large king sized bed (note it's king size, not small queen size noted in the description). We arrived to a helpful welcome pack with nice bottle of wine. Leighwood Cottage is very well situated for touring the area. However it is a really tough and very steep - mainly over 15% gradient - 1.5 mile walk up the bungalow from the seafront. It sits some 400 feet above sea level.In particular we enjoyed a steam train journey to Dartmouth and on the river Dart, visiting Agatha Christie's home, the amazing Babbacombe model village and the funicular railway down to the brilliant Babbacombe beach, and a lovely evening at the Palace Theatre in Paignton.Our only complaint is not at all about the Leighwood Cottage or the area, but that we had planned to leave our car and travel around by bus. However we quickly and unfortunately discovered that whilst the busses are great along the coast, they do not come to the top of the hill anywhere near the bungalow after 2pm any day! A car is therefore essential for this holiday.
