Guests say

The Old Cow Shed in Eye offers a peaceful and relaxing stay in a rustic, spacious cottage with a comfortable bed and a welcoming atmosphere. Its proximity to the countryside and local amenities, including a delightful pub, is appreciated by guests. While some guests suggest the property could benefit from a refresh and a more thorough clean, the overall experience is seen as pleasant, with the location and tranquility being particular highlights.

Several reviews mention the need for a more detailed clean, with some guests noting stained kitchen surfaces, greasy cutlery, and a musty smell in the bedroom. These comments suggest that cleanliness could be improved.

The location is consistently praised for its peacefulness, easy access to the countryside, and proximity to a good local pub. Guests find it to be a safe and friendly area, ideal for relaxation and exploring Suffolk.

Guests find the large double bed comfortable and the property cosy. However, some furniture is reported to need repair or replacement, and there are comments about the need for better curtain mechanisms and additional places to hang towels.

The property is described as spacious and well-located, but some guests mention the lack of a microwave and issues with dining chairs and the settee. The need for maintenance and updates in certain areas is noted.

Guests mention a welcoming email from the hosts and a festive touch with decorations and a tree during a holiday stay. While these gestures are appreciated, it is important to note that such personal touches may vary and are not guaranteed.

A rustic property. Surprisingly big but in need of a refresh. The wooden beams, wooden floors and dark wooden furniture coupled with the dark yellowly, almost like a nicotine stained colour, makes the property quite dark inside. There is sufficient led "warm white" lighting but still fairly dismal for most of the evening/ nightThe property is cosy and the large double bed was very comfortable and relaxing.Overall the property needs a detailed clean, the kitchen sink was stained, as are most of the wooden kitchen surfaces. The small dining plates and mugs were not as clean as expected and the cutlery felt greasy and in need if a wash in hot water. As the notes at the property said, a cleaning company arrives promptly on check out day... I may suggest either closer supervision by the owners or consider changing them for someone who pays attention to detail. It was a very peaceful and relaxing location which we enjoyed and access to the countryside and nearby villages and towns was very good. We would certainly stay in the area and Suffolk again... its clean, safe and everyone we met was friendly and pleasant. Not sure if we would pick the "Old Cow Shed "again though.
