Hoseason’s unfortunately provided outdated information following the booking - most especially the actual location of the Glamping site. Thankfully, in contacting Gavin (the man in charge of the Glamp @ The Priory) we were lead to the correct location. The bonus was discovering that the new site, was on well drained soil & the car parking was in sight of, & just metres away from, the Bell Tents & Cabins. Our first time ever glamping, we almost cancelled due to forecasts for wet & windy conditions, which thankfully ended up being intermittent showers & mostly dry weather. Being the End of August/early September the nights were getting cold in the bell tent, but nothing that a good hoodie wouldn’t solve in bed 😆 & I believe you can hire a gas heater on request. We also found that the facilities slightly differed in our bell tent, from what was advertised - there was an upgrade of a small refrigerator (not an ice box), & the power supply was adequate enough to run a CPAP machine & charge our phones at night. Adversely, there were no fairy lights in the Country Cottage Bell Tent, & the second bed was not a sofa bed - I actually suspect that it was the dog stretcher with two thin mattresses on top - but hey, it didn’t matter too much, as it proved fine to sleep on for a 4 night camping trip. One door zip was broken along the bottom, but otherwise everything was sufficiently clean & in good working order. The bell tent was a real novelty to stay in, & it was nice to have our own bbq, fire pit, & toilet/shower facilities beside the tent. The shower was warm & worked ok, however the shower handset clasp was loose, & the floor tray didn’t drain well, so the shower curtain would get sodden. And being that it was a tight space, it meant that the curtain had a habit of sticking to you & then leaking water out onto the main floor - but hey, again not such a big deal in camping terms. In regards to supplies of ‘kiln dried & smokeless’ wood & coal for the fire pit & bbq, Gavin informed us that unfortunately, their supplies (which normally you can purchase) hadn’t been delivered, so we were directed to the nearest local supplier - a service station a short drive away. Also close, was a grocery store, fruit stand & a farm shop… all a mere 5-10 minute drive from the campsite.Boardering both Suffolk & Norfolk, the farm is in a pretty part of the country, with plenty of nature reserves & natural attractions to visit, at relatively short distances by car. There were a couple of horses alongside the campsite, little bats flitting over at dusk, rabbits/hares hopping over the fields & a Robin or two bopping about at dawn, plus a morning chorus of what mostly was crow’s squawking, but also pigeon & dove’s cooing. And on the dry nights, although crisp, we were rewarded with stars & the romance of an open fire. All was near perfect until our final morning there…Be warned, this is a working farm, so not all sounds are pleasant. My wife was disturbed by two trucks & maybe four vechicles rubbling past down the lane at about 4am, followed by a couple of hours of what distinctly sounded like a pig slaughter taking place. The campsite was vacant that night, other than us, so I think our last night there perhaps was an oversight in the booking - I suspect we weren’t supposed to hear this. My son & I slept through it thankfully, but my wife was quite distressed - a reminder of the reason to go vegan, or at least to lessen our consumption of meat & dairy - which, sorry Priory Farm, you won’t be wanting to hear. But, bar that final morning experience 😢 you really do have a great set up in the glamping business! 👍🏻
