A.E. Houseman's poem, A Shropshire Lad, defined Clun as 'the quietest place under the sun', and with its dramatic ruin of a Norman castle, Saxon church, the bustling river which flows under the 14th century pack horse bridge, and a country inn, Clun is a rural gem situated in the South Shropshire Hills. It lies on the Shropshire Way in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty close to the border of Wales, an area known as The Marches. This unspoilt part of Britain has an abundance of wildlife and beautiful unhindered walking and cycling routes winding their way through the countryside with the Clun and Kerry Forests, Offa's Dyke, and Kerry Ridgeway all close by. There are a wide range of festivals and shows on offer in the surrounding area throughout the year, including The Green Man festival in May. From Clun, you can also enjoy exploring the historic towns of Bishop's Castle, Presteigne, Ludlow, Shrewsbury, and Hereford, a must for visitors.

It is a real home from home. Vaughan and Eileen gave us a great welcome. The Farmhouse is set idyllic countryside with wonderful views and provides a great base whether you are looking for rest and relaxation or want a more energetic break. There are walks of all degrees of length and difficulty and many cycle tracks. Vaughan happily provided lots of information. There are plenty of historic sites to visit, towns, castles, stately homes and gardens. Clun itself is a sweet village with its own ruined castle. For ‘Foodies’ there is plenty of local produce and many different ‘eateries’. We love Ludlow Farm Shop and the covered Market Hall in Shrewsbury for food shopping and could happily compile a huge list of the places we visited. It is a property we will return to regularly as there will always be something new to explore.

The property was very comfortable with all mod cons, easy access to fields for the dog to enjoy and quiet country lane for an evening stroll. Well placed for good hill walking and the town of Clun affords shops/cafe/pubs

Cottage was very comfortable, secure, clean and good location for days out. Evening walks from doorstep. Visits to Ludlow, Hereford, hay on wye, Berrington hall and Croft castle. Nice lounge with log burner and smart tv, Kitchen/diner open plan and 2 good sized double bedrooms with ensuites, one with smart tv. Everything looks brand new. WiFi was fast. Beautiful views all around. Owners very friendly and informative. Stayed at many cottages and rate this as good as any we have stayed in, really was a home from home and would definitely return.
