The unesco World Heritage Site of Pontcysyllte Aqueduct is also within easy reach. Towering above the River Dee, this remarkable feat of engineering can be crossed on foot or experienced from the water during a canal boat trip. Nearby Llangollen is a lively riverside town with independent shops, traditional pubs and attractive walks along the canal and River Dee.
Walkers can discover sections of Offa’s Dyke Path, explore the peaceful Ceiriog Valley or follow trails through the surrounding woodland and countryside.
