This charming semi-detached barn conversion is quietly tucked round the corner from Masham’s market square, a timeless town in Wensleydale. Setch Barn has been imaginatively converted from its former farm byre origins to offer bright and modern accommodation for your Yorkshire Dales getaway. This lovely, light-filled holiday home benefits from incredibly high ceilings, with the first floor twin bedroom bathed in light from the large lantern windows. The ground floor has the luxury of underfloor heating, including the spacious wet room, which along with the ground floor king-size double bedroom, offers comfortable and convenient accommodation for all guests. You’ll also find a sociable open plan living area, the perfect place to spend time together, while outside is a patio, along with two off road parking spaces and a shed for bikes - an excellent addition, as you’re sure to discover wonderful cycling in this pretty part of the country.
Masham has a lovely medieval church and a Georgian town square, reputedly one of the largest in the county with a couple of cafes, pubs and shops. Aficionados of fine ale will be all too aware that this is the home of the Black Sheep Brewery, where you can take a tour before treating yourself to a glass or two in the bar. Masham is a superb base from which to explore the very best of The Dales with York, Leeds and Harrogate all easily reached within an hour. Once a great Cistercian monastery, Jervaulx Abbey sits five miles to the north of the town and has won the hearts of visitors over the years; though ruined and roofless, it’s an atmospheric spot well worth a visit.
The beautiful remains of popular Fountains Abbey and its stunning water gardens can be found ten miles to the south of Masham. With over 800 acres of attractive grounds and ancient woodland, it’s very easy to find that perfect picnic spot. Following a day exploring Lower Wensleydale and beyond, return to your holiday cottage, relax on the patio and plans tomorrow’s adventure!
The historic little market town of Masham is situated in the lower reaches of pretty Wensleydale alongside the River Ure. Set in gently rolling farmland, the town boasts a huge market square, where a Wednesday market has been joined by a popular Saturday market. With so much to see and do in the area, this is a great place for a holiday in all seasons.

A little cut through to the Co Op as well as being a stones throw from the centre. We would have no hesitation on using this cottage again. Thank you.

We were pleasantly surprised at the living room furniture which seemed to be almost new and the decent sized TV. Kitchen was well equipped with an easy to use hob and oven, again a pleasant surprise. Only downside was the 'patio' area outside the property. Although attached to the building, access could only be gained via the front door, walking along almost the length of the building, and in through a side gate. Not enamoured by the table and chars, no cushions available and, in the hot weather, a parasol would have been much appreciated. Apart from that, everything else was spot on!
