About this property

This beautifully presented, end-terrace stone cottage, is in the historic market town of Pickering, the gateway to the North York Moors National Park. Renovated to a high standard, this Grade ll listed property is perfect for families and friends wanting to explore the stunning surrounding scenery and the nearby seaside resorts of Whitby and Scarborough. Full of warmth and character, there is a bright and modern kitchen with a small dining area and a door opening onto the rear garden. A cosy sitting room leads off from the kitchen, with a warming open fire set in the original fireplace, beamed ceiling and tongue and groove doors; a comfortable and welcoming room in which to relax after a busy day out. Traditional cottage stairs take you up to the two pretty bedrooms and the family bathroom. Tastefully furnished, with great attention to detail, the cottage has a lovely homely feel, ensuring guests have a very pleasant stay. Outside to the rear, there are a couple of steps up to the sheltered lawned garden and patio, a perfect place for a morning coffee or an evening glass of wine! With the added benefit of off road parking, rarely found in Pickering, guests can leave their cars safely behind. A ten minute walk brings you into the hustle and bustle of this popular market town, where a wide array of individual shops, tempting tea rooms, pubs, restaurants and a weekly market along the main street await you. There are many attractions in the immediate area, including the Beck Isle Museum and the castle ruins, whilst both young and old will enjoy a magical trip on the steam railway, which winds its way through the heather-clad moors to the small village of Grosmont. Well worth visiting are the stately homes and gardens of Castle Howard (from Brideshead Revisited) and Duncombe Park, along with the pretty market towns of Helmsley and Kirkbymoorside. Golfing enthusiasts can enjoy a round at the excellent courses at Malton and Kirkbymoorside, whilst culture lovers will enjoy Byland and Rievaulx Abbeys. With easy access to the coast and wonderful walking through spectacular countryside, this splendid cottage provides a good base, all year round.

Pickering is a market town offering traditional shops, pubs and restaurants and serves as the official gateway to the North York Moors National Park. The Beck Isle Museum is well worth visit, plus take a ride on the steam railway. There are wonderful walking routes nearby, whilst the City of York and the Heritage Coast are just half an hour's drive away.

Well appointed, spotlessly clean, comfy bed. Close to local shops and restaurants. Would definitely recommend

We found the cottage warm and cosy despite the cold weather outside. We hardly used the cooking facilities so can comment on them. Two little niggles. The latch on the side entrance didn't seem to work for us. The two sofas were comfortable byt too low and slippery for us so getting up off them was quite a challenge. Plenty of little additions which gave a country cottage atmosphere. Very convenenient for bus services and NYMR.

pubs and of course the Railway which we used everyday. The cottage is very well equipped comfy sofa's and beds remember to duck when climbing the steep stairs, Parking space was also a premium. Our only gripe was the kettle lid kept opening when on the boil, maybe ready for a new one, but overall 10/10 thank you. Jacqui.
