Pickering is a wonderful base for exploring the North York Moors and the nearby coastline. It is a pretty market town, with the popular market taking place every Monday. A steam train winds its way from Pickering over the rolling heather, through valleys and over hills to many picturesque villages all the way to Whitby on the coast and is ideal for a special day out; in December it becomes a themed Christmas Santa Special. One of the highlights on the calendar in Pickering is the annual War Weekend, where battle re-enactments take place and live music can be enjoyed, the whole town seems to slip back in time.
The surrounding North York Moors is a haven for walkers with many trails to explore and an abundance of wildlife. Dalby Forest has a choice of trails for cyclists as well as walkers, whilst thrill seekers have the Go Ape zip lines through the treetops. Nearby is Malton, the food capital of Yorkshire, recently described as a “foodie’s heaven”, with a market, award-winning restaurants and a cookery school. Castle Howard is one of Britain’s finest stately homes, sure to fill you with awe. There are also the beaches at Scarborough, Filey and Bridlington nearby to explore, the nearest only 18 miles from Pickering. And Flamingo Land theme park and zoo is a real treat for children, just a 10-minute drive away. Beach 18 miles.
Free WiFi
There is a private driveway better suited to a small/medium car. The next door's driveway is at a lower level so if preferred there is ample on street parking outside the house, which is situated at the end of a quiet cut-de-sac

Flos place is in a perfect location and we have stayed here before it’s spacious and comfortable the only niggle we had was that we found the house very cold this time even boosting the heating only made the radiators tepid 🤔 it didn’t spoil our stay though we just put a jumper on. We had planned on booking here for Christmas and new year as it’s where we stayed last year and we all enjoyed the property and the location but unfortunately at over £2.000 for 2 weeks it was well out of our budget and looking at next years prices I don’t think we will be returning soon which is a shame as it’s a well equipped place with in easy driving distance of places like Scarborough Whitby Bridlington and York if you’re looking for big places 😢

We enjoyed our two week stay at Flo's place. It is in a quiet location a short walk from the town centre shops. There were only two minor problems:The TV would often show a 'no aerial connected' error message. This was 'cured' by switching to a standard-definition channel and then back to the HD channel that we wanted to watch. We couldn't find anywhere to dispose of non-recycleable waste, which we had to store in a bag once the pedal bin was full. Fortunately, we did not have any smelly takeaway containers etc. to handle.
