Public car park, at cost. No smoking.. Ryburn House is a wonderful choice for guests looking for a stay in the national park. Thornton-Le-Dale is arguably the prettiest village in Yorkshire, with a stream woven through its heart.
Lovingly furnished throughout with all of the home comforts you need. On the ground floor is the open-plan living area, where you can unwind around the wood burner, while the kitchen is modern and equipped with integrated appliances. At the rear of the cottage, is the garden with a seating area, which is shared with the neighbouring holiday cottage. Upstairs on the first floor, you have a double bedroom and a shower room, on the second floor is a twin bedroom and a bathroom. Each room is tastefully furnished, with beautiful original features giving a little glimpse of this property’s past.
This small village attracts many visitors due to its beauty and the amenities are only a 2-minute walk away, with cafes, a bakery, the village green and a small park surrounding the duck pond perfect to enjoy the scenery. The village has become popular after being featured on the classic car auction show Bangers and Cash, and you can visit the showroom to see what unique finds are going for auction. There is an abundance of scenic walking trails nearby branching out into the neighbouring moorland, an ideal destination for guests who enjoy the great outdoors.
Surrounding attractions include Dalby Forest, with wonderful hiking and cycling trails, segway riding and treetop ziplining, and Flamingoland theme park and zoo for younger family members. Rydale Folk Museum documents the history of the area with reconstructed shops, houses and even an iron stone dwelling. The nearby market town of Pickering has castle ruins and the heritage steam train which takes you to the coast, or for a day out by the sea choose from, Staithes, Runswick Bay with sheltered golden sandy beach, historical Robin Hood’s Bay with its characterful cottages spilling down the cliff top to the sea, or Sandsend with a vast beach at low tide, and the ever-popular coastal town of Whitby.

We really enjoyed our long weekend at Ryburn house in October. The house is well equipped & in a great location. There isn't any parking, however we always managed to park on the street a few minutes walk away.

Ryburn House was excellent, it was clean, well equipped, well thought out and an absolute joy to spend a week in. We've stopped in many cottages over the years and both my wife and agreed that Ryburn House was amongst the best. The only reason I scored comfort and equipped as good and not excellent was that we found the bed was soft and we like a firmer bed. That being said, that is our preference and by no means a criticism of Ryburn House and what's in it.The village of Thornton Dale is a really charming, friendly and interesting place to visit, Two good pubs, a great chippy and other numerous shops like the grocers, the pharmacy and the bakers, but more over it's a fantastic base to tour and discover the North Yorkshire Moors National Park with Whitby, Pickering and Hemsby all withing a short drive.From our point of view Ryburn House is a great cottage in a great location.
