Sunny Bank is one of four holiday cottages in Hunmanby Gap owned by a local Yorkshire family. Sat in a picturesque cove in the centre of Filey Bay and overlooking miles of golden sands, these cottages provide wonderful sea views and are just perfect for those looking for a romantic seaside break, family beach holiday or a relaxing bird watching getaway. There are also miles of cycle routes and footpaths to explore too!
Step inside and get a feel for this cosy seaside bungalow. The living room provides deep filled sofas and an electric fire for the cooler winter months. The additional sun room provides lovely sea views and access out to the large garden via French doors. The kitchen/dining room offers plenty of cupboards to store your holiday essentials and work top space, so the chef in the family will enjoy rustling up a family breakfast or a delicious home cooked evening meal which can be enjoyed at the dining table. All the accommodation can be found on the ground floor and Sunny Bank has two well-presented bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with twin beds. Both rooms offer pretty soft furnishings and deep filled mattresses. The accommodation is completed with a house bathroom offering a bath and separate shower. Step outside from the sun room and Sunny Bank has a large grassed area to the rear with private seating. Due to strong winds during the winter months, the garden here is not enclosed! A short walk down the hill is where you will find a quaint dog friendly café (seasonal) and the beach is just beyond.
A short drive away is the pretty seaside town of Filey and the harbour port of Scarborough. Both towns offer lovely walks along promenades and a plethora of seaside attractions, tea rooms, restaurants and shops. A visit to rspb Bempton Cliffs is a must whilst staying at The Chalet, or why not travel a little further inland and enjoy the rolling countryside of the Yorkshire Wolds. This holiday cottage will leave you with everlasting memories and is the ideal base for your seaside holiday.

Where do I start? First the good points. The cottage is spacious and neat. The beach is a five minute walk down a steep slope and is easy for walking. The kitchen is well stocked and the bed is cosy.However....we arrived in rain and spent a couple of minutes looking for the key. I received an email from the owner about 2 hrs later telling me where it was.As the evening drew on it became cold so I found the thermostat, set it as best I could but after half an hour the heating stopped. I tried to contact the owners using the phone numbers provided but received a message saying unavailable so I left a voicemail. I also emailed twice. The next morning after a very cold night I tried adjusting the thermostat and after a period of trial and error managed to get it going. I sent another email and a couple of hours later received an acknowledgement and apology. That night the weather was atrocious and the rain was going sideways. We were watching the Strictly on the telly when we were interrupted by 2 mice who fancied a dance on the living room carpet. They then shot into the kitchen heading for the waste bin then disappeared. Needless to say we didn't want to stay in a cottage with rodents so early next morning I left an email for the owners explaining why we were going home. Then we packed the car and said goodbye to one of the mice who had decided to go for a stroll on the kitchen counter.Now I know it's an old cottage and bad weather can bring in little critters but for nearly £100 quid a night I didn't fancy sharing.I did receive an email from the owners later saying these things happen and even mouse deterrents didn't work..They also wished me happy birthday...yes it was that day...So to sum up, nice place in Summer according to previous guests but avoid in winter.

We had an amazing week. Sunnybank was just like home. We had everything we needed, the bed was very comfortable.The sea views were to die for, even in the snow. We shall definitely going to stay again.

Sunny Bank is a lovely cottage situated in a very good place to get out and about either beaches or into the stunning countryside.The cottage is very well equipped and comfortable plenty of room to relax, the only thing I Would say is that the garden needs a bit of attention other than that lovely place and would definitely stay again.
