  Oakridge cottage is a charming little place and is a perfect retreat for relaxing, unwinding and simply just to get away from the world, makes you feel your in another time and place.

  The cottage is full of charm and is simply just idyllic, the owners have refurbished the cottage to a lovely standard and thought of everything the space would allow them to. The only issue with the cottage was the banisters weren't very secure and when the stairs are as steep and winding as they were you do kind of need to use them, there wasnt any wood left for us to use on the log burner which states on the website and in the welcome book that there should of been so we had to purchase some from the local shop, i would just add that if possible the check in time could do with being made a little earlier than 4pm so that if the weather is terrible like it was for us you can get in and make yourself a little more comfortable as we feel we had lost the first day entirely by having to sit in the car all day until we could check in at 4pm, apart from those little issues the setting and the cottage was perfect and we will definitely be returning in the very near future

  We had a lovely three-night stay.

  The cottage is bursting with original character of its age; slightly wonky stairs, the old stove in the bedroom and tiny windows looking out on the square. It takes you back in time somewhat. The central location was really great, we based our days from the house and walked everywhere from there. The bed was really comfortable and we slept very well indeed! Parking was a mild inconvenience being a 1/2 mile walk away, and I had to do a few loops to find a suitable spot, but it was minor in relation to the positives. That said, I expect that if we had gone at a busier time of year, this could have been more of an issue, and for that reason alone, I would opt for parking included if we ever returned during peak time.

  The owners of this holiday home have thought of everything.

  The property is finished to a very high standard, there are wireless charging stations in the bedroom, towels and bedding are provided. The stairs are not for the faint hearted they are steep but easily assessable. The property is close to the centre of Robin hoods bay and the local amenities. We had a fabulous stay and would recommend this property to any couple liking for a quiet get away in a seaside village. Parking is at the top of the hill and a weekly permit gets you free parking in all local long stay car parks so well worth the cost. The chip shop in the centre of the village is great and I recommend Elle Estelles cafe, and the Cove for other food.

  We stayed at Oakridge Cottage for 1 week.

  The cottage is lovely and whilst very small is perfect for a weeks stay. It is really well located within RHB near to all the pubs and cafes etc. We ate at a few different places and the standout was the breakfast at Brambles. Also really like the Old Post Office, very basic breakfast menu but the bacon roll and coffee were really good. We took our dogs and they loved it, there are so many options for walks. We walked to Whitby on the coastal path, its a good walk and quite tiring so we got the bus back. The booking process with Sykes was easy and everything was included, one price, no hidden extras which was great.

  It’s a charming characterful cottage in a great location.

  My one beef is that the 2 single mattresses in the attic room are so deeply uncomfortable I had to put them on the floor to be able to sleep. They are the oldest cheapest kind with large springs and no padding. This combined with the bed frames in the attic being also of poor standard ( the wooden slats being too far apart to provide decent support for any mattress). The steps up to the attic room are very steep & wouldn’t be suitable for all folk. It’s a shame that the poor quality of the beds/mattresses in the attic room really let down the rest of the cottage which is lovely, warm & comfortable
