Upstairs Downstairs Cottage in Scarborough receives high praise for its cleanliness, comfort, and location, with guests appreciating the thoughtful touches and well-tended garden. The property is well-equipped and the owner, Dan, is commended for his hospitality. While ideal for exploring the area, some guests noted the steep stairs and the need for caution with young children.
The cottage is consistently described as very clean and well-maintained, with multiple guests highlighting its spotlessness. One review mentioned the need to watch for dog poo in the garden, but this seems an isolated incident.
The location is frequently praised for being excellent, with easy access to local amenities, the coast, and scenic areas. The proximity to a bus stop and local shops adds to the convenience, although one review mentioned steep stairs which may affect accessibility for some.
Guests find the cottage comfortable, with a homely feel and a well-equipped setup. The beds are noted to be very comfortable, contributing to a restful stay. However, one review cited low walls and a potential hazard from a falling piece of wood, slightly impacting the score.
Facilities are generally regarded as excellent, with a well-equipped kitchen and a lovely garden. Maintenance issues like steep stairs for children, low walls, and a falling piece of wood were noted, suggesting room for improvement in safety and maintenance.
The owner's thoughtfulness is frequently mentioned, with guests appreciating welcome touches such as wine and snacks. While these gestures are warmly received, it is noted that such gifts, though delightful, are not guaranteed with every stay.

Large enclosure where our pet dog could run around in a safe space. Very clean and comfortable. Could not fault the property and the owner was friendly and helpful. Would not suit anyone with mobility issues. Would recommend this property.
