The historic city of York is just 8 miles away and there are regular buses into the centre, or easy access from the park and ride at the designer outlet (5 miles). York appeals to all ages with its abundance of attractions including the iconic Minster, National Railway Museum and Jorvik Viking Centre. There are street entertainers and ghost walks along the cobbled alleyways, numerous festivals and markets throughout the year and a wide choice of inns, restaurants and tearooms. Wheldrake Ings, a significant conservation area and nature reserve is close by and the Yorkshire Air Museum and Museum of Farming provide a fascinating insight into the past, whilst throughout the summer lots of family fun can be found at the York Maze. Our weekend stay at this cottage was highly satisfactory. It was equipped with all the necessary amenities for an excellent visit to York.

The cottage itself was in a great location, close to the park and ride for York and lots of the Halls and Castles to visit.The cottage was cosy but could have been cleaned to a slightly higher standard there were some cobwebs and the crockery and cutlery had to be washed before we could use but nothing was a problem. We did not use the hot tub as this is overlooked by the next door cottage.We parked on the road as there was someone using the cottage next to us and this made the parking behind the cottage tight.There is a small shop along the road for basics such as bread and milk but for a bigger shop you have to go further afield. The pub was shut when we were there so we could not use this so we ate in different places, two that I would recommend are Thompsons Fish and chips along the A64 towards Malton and Cut and Craft in York.Overall we had a lovely stay and would recommend.
