York appeals to all ages with its abundance of attractions including the iconic Minster, National Railway Museum and Jorvik Viking Centre. There are street entertainers and ghost walks along the cobbled alleyways, numerous festivals and markets throughout the year and a wide choice of inns, restaurants and tearooms. Wheldrake Ings, a significant conservation area and nature reserve is close by and the Yorkshire Air Museum and Museum of Farming provide a fascinating insight into the past, whilst throughout the summer lots of family fun can be found at the York Maze. We enjoyed our stay but wanted to mention the following -Cottage interior was a bit tired looking and could do with a freshen up. Had only 1 tea towel for a 4 night stay. Were left a used dishcloth and a used sponge in the kitchen which didn't feel hygenic. There was no soap in the bathroom. The area by the hot tub needed sweeping and clearing and the outside table and chairs look like they need replacing. Outside space at the rear was very untidy and not welcoming.The cottage was nice and clean . Wheldrake is a nice village with easy accessibility to York and nearby areas . Just feel the cottage and outside rear area needs some TLC

Great place in a quiet village location that has a pub, shop & cafe on the same street. 6 miles outside york & less than 10 minutes to the park & ride. Cottage was very small but ideal for myself & teenage son. There is a hot tub but we didnt use it.

Although it's very comfortable and the village is wonderful it was let down by the cleanliness .There were stains in the toilet mould on the bottom of the shower screen a stain on the duvet cover a dishcloth that looked as though it had done some heavy cleaning which had to be thrown away immediately and a cooker extractor with enough grease to fry food in which was a shame as it let the holiday experience down a bit . But you must try the wenlock arms Sunday roast with biggest Yorkshire puddings I've ever seen and friendly helpful staff
