We had a wonderful stay at this lovely Scottish cottage. It had everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing break. The heating took a little while to figure out, but once we got it sorted it was fine. The hosts were really helpful and friendly, even popping round to make sure everything was OK, which we really appreciated. The nearby mill was fascinating to visit we were delighted to get free entry, and the volunteers there were so knowledgeable and welcoming. We also really enjoyed the special Halloween event they put on while we were there, which was great fun and added something extra to our stay. We loved the beautiful coastal walk into John o Groats too, where we were lucky enough to see seals and plenty of bird life along the way. All in all, a really memorable stay in a great location. Highly recommended!

A quirky cottage with lots of nature nearby. Loved the location by the old mill, which is operated on Sundays, and castle ruins along the coast. Proximity to wildlife: a resident otter, hen harriers, falcons, and diving gannets among much else. An easy stroll along an excellent path to John O'Groats itself with its cafes and brilliant brewery pub. Staff were unbelievably friendly. An old building with loads of character. You look onto the sea through an old mill wheel from the living room. And we saw the Northern Lights! Not a dislike, but you kind of need a car to make the most of this area, and we walked a lot as we love nature and history.

Having booked 5 days 4 night so we could the nc 500 which we were lucky enough to have a nice day for.The cottage is quiet later in the evening as set close to the road which goes through to John o groats and through to Thurso. The interior of the cottage is nice, although we thought their was meant to be enclosed area for our dog to rear of cottage which ended up being river insteadThe heating is a big issue in this property and hot water. The owner popped by on our arrival night and pointed out a booster switch which after 2nd day wasn't helping give us hot water and as no phone signal couldn't ring him to come sort it out.So not good if you were to have an accident or medical issue. As it was we left a day early mainly due to the heating and hot water issue
