This attractive detached ‘long house’ is situated in the small crofting community of Feriniquarrie, near Glendale on the Isle of Skye. All on the ground floor, you can relax in the front of the wood burner in the living room. The kitchen/dining room is well-equipped should you wish to make an evening meal or lunchtime snack. There is a livinng room with a kitchen adjoining, bedroom with a double bed and en-suite facilities, and a single bedroom. The family bathroom completes the picture.
The property is only a 5-minute walk from the shore where you can perhaps catch sight of otters and many species of bird life. It enjoys views across the surrounding croftland to the waters of Loch Pooltiel (sea loch), and makes the perfect holiday base for exploring this beautiful island. Alternatively, sit outside and enjoy the tranquil surroundings and the magnificent sunsets.
Nearby, Glendale is a picturesque village, a jewel of Scotland’s Inner Hebrides. Situated on Skye’s western coast, Glendale boasts some of the island’s most breathtaking landscapes. This is a great comfy cottage, super kitchen living space layout, very warm with good central heating with log burner if wanted.It was clean and tidy and had all we needed. Very relaxing and good shop in Glendale nearby

Leider eine absolute Katastrophe!Die Anfahrtsbeschreibung ist schlecht, so dass wir eine Stunde damit verbracht haben, das Haus zu finden - an der Einfahrt steht noch dazu ein Hinweisschild mit einem in den Unterlagen nicht erwähnten Hausnamen (ein entsprechender Hinweis hätte uns geholfen). Auch die Angabe von GPS-Daten wäre hilfreich.In der Zufahrt ist ein derart großes Schlagloch, dass man darin Kinder verstecken könnte (für Fahrzeuge mit wenig Bodenfreiheit gefährlich und nicht zu empfehlen).Die weiteren erheblichen Mängel folgen als Liste:- Beim Öffnen der Eingangstür schlug uns ein starker modriger Geruch entgegen.- Das Haus war unbeheizt, eiskalt und feucht. - Die versprochene Erstbestückung für den Kamin war - abgesehen von etwas Anzündholz - nicht vorhanden.- Das gesamte Haus war sehr schmutzig (Spinnweben, Staub, Haare im Abfluss der Badewanne, Kühlschrank vereist und schmutzig, Backofen dreckig, Geschirr und Gläser schmutzig)- Flecken auf dem Sofa- Die Matratze des Doppelbettes ist derart durchgelegen, dass man jede einzelne Feder spürt- Die Handtücher haben teilweise Flecken und Löcher- Das Duschbad war nicht benutzbar (Raum nicht beheizbar und durch das undichte Fenster eiskalt, WC-Sitz defekt, Tür der Duschkabine klemmt, Mischbatterie der Dusche extrem schwergängig)- Das sehr ungepflegte Grundstück beherbergt Schafe, die Ihren Kot überall hinterlassen - zum Glück war es nicht sehr warm, so dass wir von Fliegen verschont blieben- Der als Modernisierung angepriesene Induktionsherd (Rechtfertigung für einen deutlich höheren Preis in 2027) ist ein ausgedientes Modell vermutlich aus einem anderen Haushalt mit total verdrecktem Backofen (Verkrustungen, Krümel). Von sonstigen Modernisierungs- oder Renovierungsmaßnahmen war nichts zu erkennen (Fenster und Türen sind z.B. undicht)Einzige positive Aspekte waren, dass man das Haus offen ließ (Schlüssel befand sich auf dem Küchentisch), so dass die Ankunftszeit variabel war und das gut funktionierende Internet (W-LAN/Wi-Fi)Insgesamt finde ich es sehr schade, dass man ein eigentlich schönes Haus so vergammeln lässt und dann trotzdem einen sehr hohen und angesichts der Mängel deutlich überzogenen Mietpreis verlangt. Das Haus müsste dringend gründlich gereinigt, renoviert und teilweise neu möbliert werden.Dieses Haus kann ich nicht empfehlen und jedem nur raten, dort nicht zu buchen. Leider ist es nicht möglich, 0 Sterne zu vergeben. Zum Glück hatten wir nur für eine Woche gebucht.

Holiday at Feriniquarrie 18, GlendaleFirst of all, we had a wonderful two weeks on Skye—memories we will cherish forever.We had somewhat mixed feelings about the holiday home: it wasn't as clean as we would have liked upon arrival. We had to do a bit of tidying up ourselves at first, though we wisely steered clear of the oven... Heating is provided only by two portable units.So why 4 stars? The house is a great size for a family of four with a dog and offers excellent value for money. There are two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a very spacious living area with an adjoining kitchen. The amenities are perfectly adequate and everything worked flawlessly; the furniture is perhaps showing its age a little, and the grounds could be better maintained.The location on the edge of Glendale is beautiful, and the view from the living room window front is a dream—with a bit of luck, you can watch red deer grazing there in the morning. The village of Glendale itself is lovely, featuring a small store, a post office, and a café. You can find restaurants, a larger store, and a petrol station in the neighboring village of Dunvegan.Neist Point Lighthouse is just a short drive away, though it takes about an hour to reach the Old Man of Storr, Portree, or the Fairy Pools. Another fond memory will be the many sheep you encounter everywhere here. Finally, I’d like to say that a holiday on Skye feels like visiting another world—and that was the best part for me.
