Guests say

Corran Shepherd’s Hut in Kyle is a highly praised retreat, celebrated for its stunning, fairy-tale location amidst wildlife and natural beauty. Guests describe it as a perfect escape, with a cosy atmosphere, well-equipped for self-catering, and offering a comfortable stay. The hosts are commended for their exceptional hospitality and attentiveness, contributing to a warm and memorable experience.

There is no specific mention of cleanliness in the reviews, so it is not possible to provide an accurate score for this category.

The location is consistently described as stunning, with proximity to Skye and abundant wildlife, including highland cows, red deer, and otters. The scenic drives and postcard-worthy views contribute to its near-perfect rating.

Guests find the hut to be a cosy and comfortable retreat, with a particularly comfy bed and good wifi. The peaceful and relaxing environment enhances the comfort level.

The property is well-equipped for a self-catering stay, with a full-size fridge and a well-appointed kitchen. However, a brief power outage due to stormy weather indicates that while facilities are generally excellent, they can be affected by external factors.

The hosts' thoughtfulness is evident in their attentive hospitality, such as purchasing a hairdryer for guests. While gifts are not explicitly mentioned, the hosts' overall consideration for guests' needs is clear. Please note that such personal touches, while delightful, may vary and are not guaranteed.

Situated in its own grounds beside a river and not far from the tidal shores of Loch Hourn, the shepherd’s hut’s home is the small village of Corran, in Arnisdale and in the shadows of the local Munro, Beinn Sgritheall. Glenelg is half an hour away along the single-track road, and it’s where you’ll find a shop, an inn, and the last running turntable ferry in the world, over the sea to Skye.

Corran is a magical little place with mountains all around as well as an iconic tea hut to visit. The famous Knoydart Peninsula is just across the loch, a boat ride away. There are hiking trails to suit everyone, with accessible Munros a walk away from the shepherd’s hut as well as easier low-level trails such as the coastal route beyond Corran. Due to its isolated position away from the modern world, the wildlife in and around the village is fantastic. You stand a good chance of spotting red deer and otters, keep an eye to the sky for eagles, and you may even spot seals and porpoises at quieter times of day out in the loch and on a rising tide. Staying at Corran Shepherd’s Hut is a perfect way to switch off from the rush of normal life. Even though there’s good Wi-Fi, staying in this remote part of the world lends itself to a digital detox. So, pack a bag of books and turn your phone off!

The attention to detail and level of comfort separates this shepherd’s hut from the competition. The decking outside is very spacious and even though the views have already been mentioned, they are truly outstanding. To be honest, the view from the hut encapsulates what everyone wants from the Scottish Highlands: mountain, loch, river, sea and an abundance of wildlife.

Corran Shepherd’s Hut is the perfect short break for 3, 4 or 5 nights. However, once you arrive, you’ll most likely wish you booked for a week. Even though you’re at the road end, and it’s an hour back to the main road, that doesn’t seem to matter, if anything it’s an advantage! The twenty-mile single-track road from Shiel Bridge to Corran is itself a dramatic introduction to Wester Ross. If you do want day trips from the hut, the Isle of Skye awaits. You can reach the misty isle via the characterful turntable ferry at Glenelg, or go the long way round on the road, which passes iconic Eilan Donan Castle.

Book Corran Shepherd’s Hut and secure yourself some memories that will last a lifetime. It’s a special place to stay in some of the best scenery Europe has to offer.

The location is like something out of a fairy tale! It's like someone picked up a visit Scotland advert, postcards, and the stereo typical "things you should see in Scotland", wrapped it in a ribbon and presented it on a golden platter! Highland cows appeared in the field next to the hut on the first morning, including a teddy bear looking calf. Red deer stags appeared just across the river, not 150m away, grazing away, that evening. We even watched otters feeding one evening as the tide was coming in.Then there are the ducks. Such little characters! Watching them toddle.off to bed each evening became a daily highlight, and seeing them living their best life on the loch river mouth was joyful! The hosts Anna and Roddy were fantastic. Anna checked on us when we arrived and Roddy was happy to chat about the wildlife and ducks. The history of the family in the welcome book was so interesting and lovely to read. It felt like home. Every mile of the single track road was another postcard worthy view and we spent a day just driving and stopping to take photos. It was everything we could have wished for and more. Worth the 10 hour drive (be aware the pink for the hut on Google maps is at the wrong Corran! It's actually another 2 and a half hour up near Skye!). We would love to come back during the peak season as everything closes at the end of October so a lot of things we couldn't do and finding food places was a challenge (dont trust Google when it says they are open!)

It’s a wonderful place to stay — perfect even for an extended visit. The hosts are exceptionally kind and attentive. When we realized there was no hairdryer, they went out of their way to buy one especially for us! Their hospitality truly exceeded our expectations. I wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone looking for a warm and memorable stay!
