What our customers say about their holidays

The location of the property is amazing & also the garden area & views, after that there is nothing positive to say about the cottage.

The pictures of the interior are not of all the furniture in the cottage, different sofas & cooker are the main differences. The cooker is very old & rusty along the bottom. The cottage is very dirty, initially thought was not as clean as would be due to being at New Year & thought a quick clean had been done however the dirt has built up over a long period of time, was filthy, would not have walked on the floors with no shoes on, carpets threadbare in places, all kitchenware needed to be washed before use, the kitchen floor had been washed however they hadn't opened fridge door so thick muck lying under this, there was a horrible smell in bedrooms possibly damp, everything we took into cottage needed cleaned when we got home as felt dirty. only enough logs for one fire, would be good to know this before arrival so supplies could be picked up on way in, this is the only cottage we have stayed in where sufficient coal & logs have not been provided especially in the winter as other heating was only by electric radiators. Only able to get hot water when fire was lit despite following instructions for water heater left on a little piece of paper. Electric shower very weak water pressure. We would not have stayed if it hadn't been for the very high price we had paid, the distance from home to travel back and how much it would have cost us to find somewhere else over New Year

We wanted a very remote get away to relax and switch off and the location delivered.

Cottage was in a stunning location. Remote and isolated. Just how we like it. The views were incredible and the wildlife was abundant, even spotted some porpoise in the waters nearby. If your planning a trip here though be warned the nearest big shop is all most an hour away so take food with you. There is a local shop but it only supplies the basics. Cottage itself; bit of mixed feeling around it. It is very comfortable and has everything you need. Shower is good and beds are very comfortable. It is listed as having Sky Tv, this isn’t the case. It certainly doesn’t have all the channels you would expect from normal Sky Tv it is mostly freeview channels and some extras. If like us you are stuck inside due to bad weather too the sofas aren’t the best for relaxing on. They’re like sitting in airline seats. Kitchen is very dated too and needs an upgrade. Because of its age it doesn’t feel clean. And there’s little issues such as the fridge not opening fully. Which isn’t a big problem just very annoying if you’ve got bottles lying down in side. Also the cottage is advertised as being able to accommodate 6 people. There was two of us and two dogs. I wouldn’t of wanted anyone else in there. Even 2 adults and 4 children would be a tight fit. Overall amazing location and relaxing place to stay. But there are little issues as mentioned above.

We really enjoyed our visit to Rarsaidh holiday cottage, the location was spectacular, just amazing.

just a few points to note, I would consider essentials like, salt, pepper, cooking oil and kitchen roll to be at hand. This property is 10 miles from the closest shop which is not always open, ie closes for lunch daily and closes on sundays, and thereafter the closest coop is a 40 mile round trip. thankfully we took all these "essentials" but other travellers may not be so well prepared. other items deemed "desirable" like milk, coffee, tea and extra bin liners may also be considered. the local pub in wintertime is only open thursday to sunday and only the bar area, so there was no where to eat out at all. not a worry for us, but worth noting for you to take absolutely everything you need. we had a bit of a problem with the heating which took us a couple of days to figure out but we got there in the end. unfortunately the gas fire stopped working after 2 days in and we called out the estate manager to help. he was super helpful and came out immediately to hoover the soot out of the fire and it was solved quickly, he was really helpful in every way. otherwise our stay was excellent, we appreciated the rural nature of the property and if travellers bear that in mind when choosing to book it, they too will have a lovely stay.

We had a great stay at Craggan Cottage.

Walks in the area were superb, and the cottage was a very nice surprise, the views were spectacular! A fab holiday, but a few hopefully constructive suggestions: - description does not sell the cottage well, it should pull out that it is secluded at the end on the road, with spectacular views, and on the Loch edge (hear the waves at night, private beach, great walks on the doorstep, etc) - the garden was described as secure, but it was not, a shame for our dog. Two small gates would solve this (one between house and garden wall, one down to the loch beach) - the prices have gone up a lot since joining Sykes. As NTS members, would be great to get some benefit, such as a discount - while I appreciate COVID guidance, it would be good to have 1 map of the estate in the cottage (we picked one up from the car park?) as the wifi is weak, and reception is a little hit and miss. - the front door closing and locking behind us caught us out a few times (a warning sign, and second key would help) - a small sign/ instructions on where to park would be helpful so as not to annoy the neighbours - the under cabinet bulb in the kitchen melted our chocolate in the wall cabinet, might be worth thinking about leds?

It was a great cottage but the double bed was so springy and uncomfortable that my partner and I had to sleep apart for our entire stay.

Would also recommend some black out curtains for the bedroom windows. Difficult to sit at dining table, we are slight people and would recommend removal of side board; especially if a family of 6 is staying or they will have no hope of sitting down together. Would have been so helpful to have had information on canoeing and fishing. We did not have our own kit and thought it would be easy to obtain up there. It wasn’t and we we very disappointed as we would have taken our own. We also left several messages for both contact numbers given and called each about 5 times prior to arrival to gain further information but could not get hold of anyone and we’re not called back. The agency also emailed and did not receive a reply a reply which was not helpful. The nearest food re-supply is a 40 min drive away at Kyle of Lockalsh. There is only a small under counter fridge which does not hold much for a family. Small freezer box which can hold several portions of meat and fish. Fish van calls Wed & Thur at village shop but no specific times which makes it tricky. Fresh fish at Kyle of Lockalsh. All this info needs to be given as Glenelg is so remote.
