Strathlene Lodge is highly praised for its stunning beachfront location, spectacular views, and excellent access to local walks and attractions. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen, cosy atmosphere, and the unique experience of watching seals and sunsets from the cottage. While the property is generally comfortable and homely, some guests noted dated decor and minor maintenance issues. The main concern is the unenclosed garden and proximity to a busy road, which may be challenging for families with young children or dogs. Overall, the cottage offers a memorable and relaxing seaside retreat.
Most guests found the property clean and well-presented, though a few mentioned issues such as stained carpets and dated linen. Cleanliness is generally good but could be improved in some areas.
The location is consistently described as outstanding, with direct beach access, beautiful views, and proximity to local attractions. The only drawback is the busy road outside.
Guests found the cottage cosy and beds mostly comfortable, but some mentioned uncomfortable sofas and mattresses, as well as issues for older guests with the bath and shower.
The cottage is very well-equipped, especially the kitchen, and includes thoughtful extras like a telescope. Some maintenance and modernisation could enhance the experience further.
Guests appreciated extras such as a telescope and welcome/instruction binders. Some reviews mention small starter provisions, but please note that gifts or extras are not guaranteed.

Great cottage in a fabulous location, just disappointing that the garden wasn't fully enclosed.Having a dog with us we felt we couldn't fully relax due to cars driving past so close.

Location amazing… sadly let down by cottage…. Stayed in many and none are perfect but this has been the worst cleanliness was an issue as was safety. Outside front door there is a busy road and although there is a fence with a gate surrounding the front door it is not fully enclosed as the side of it by the garage does not have a gate. Also there is two doors inside before the front door creating a small porch which would be good for safety of kids or dogs if they stayed shut when you open the front door, sadly they didn’t. Baby gate did not fit across any of the doors and was bent so was useless. Bathroom is bright and spacious but the shower has no power and the bath is deep but there is nothing to hold onto getting in and out especially for older people.seating in lounge was very uncomfortable especially the grey small sofa as was the mattresses on the beds. Linen on the single bed was so old and bobbled we went and bought new from Tesco. Telescope in second bedroom was a great Idea but sadly we could not use as velum window was too high for us to see out of as well as to reach and open for air. The kitchen was big and very bright with fab view of the see but sadly did not feel very clean. The fitted kitchen carpet was stained and dirty not at all inviting. Outside on decking was up inviting and with a little effort could also be made safe for kids and dogs the same with the lovely lawned area, would have been nice to sit out there if it was fenced off and had a wooden picnic table to sit and eat. It is, rather could be a lovely cottage if it was to be updated. The cottage stands on an amazing position but to make the most of it, some changes are needed. We would not choose this cottage again as it is.
