Thornbank offers spacious accommodation in a stunning location with beautiful views over the water and easy access to Millport’s attractions. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen, family-friendly features, and the inviting balcony and garden. While the property’s setting and size are consistently praised, several reviews note that some areas are in need of maintenance and updating. Despite occasional issues with cleanliness and facilities, most guests enjoyed their stay and found the house comfortable and welcoming.
Cleanliness is mixed, with several guests mentioning issues such as dog hair on beds, peeling paint, mould, and a dirty hoover. Some found the property clean and warm, but recurring comments about tired décor and maintenance detract from the overall impression.
The location is highly praised, with guests loving the stunning views, proximity to the waterfront, and easy access to local amenities and attractions. The setting is frequently described as perfect and a highlight of the stay.
Guests generally found the house spacious and the beds comfortable, with bright rooms and a pleasant atmosphere. However, broken furniture, intermittent heating, and some maintenance issues affected comfort for several visitors.
The property is well equipped, especially the kitchen, and offers useful amenities like a washing machine and dishwasher. However, guests reported problems with the oven, heating, shower, and some broken or tired furnishings, indicating a need for better upkeep.
Some guests noted thoughtful touches such as family-friendly features and a well-equipped kitchen. However, issues like missing logs (despite being advertised), lack of response from the owner, and no mention of welcome gifts suggest room for improvement. Please note that any gifts or extras mentioned by guests are not guaranteed.

We had a lovely week despite mixed weather. Rooms were well appointed with plenty cupboard space. Beds were comfortable.. Kitchen was roomy with plenty choice of dishes. Freezer unfortunately needs attention as we were greeted on arrival by a cascade of ice! Door seal has broken we think. The lower oven is very slow to heat. One other point is that the bathrooms need door locks. The lounge is comfortable with a fantastic view over the Firth of Clyde. The access stairs are steep and would be difficult for someone with mobility problems. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay in a warm, bright, roomy flat.

very tired decoration, unable to use the cooker or oven, a manual would have been helpful but even so would not have let any of my food touch the selection of pans in the cupboard.Fantastic views but difficult to find the flat. The whole house name is painted white on white and no. 11a ( not the flat no. ) is barely visible from the road. The flat was warm though, as the weather had been changable and chilly.Only a short walk from the village shops and amenities and a small beach just over the road.

We did have a lovely holiday, however I want to point out a few things with reference to the apartment. On arrival there were no logs, it does state that the first logs are provided. There were however several empty log bags left in basketThe ash bucket was also left half full (had not been emptied). The appointment was warm on arrival back soon became cold as the heating system stopped working (we now know this was due to lack of oil). We also discovered that there were no logs available to purchase, due to shops either not having any or not being open. To spend Saturday evening and all of Sunday without any hot water, with two young children is not really acceptable and we were unable to locate alternative accommodation. The internal door handle was loose, with screws falling out, I had to tighten these, luckily, I did manage to find some screw drivers. The shower also kept coming away from the wall, again I had to tighten the grub screw to secure it.The light was not working at the top of the stairs; we therefore had to balance on a chair at the top of the stairs to change the bulb. The freezer was full of ice and contained out of date items, I had to defrost it before we could use.The window sill in living room is damaged/rotten, the left-hand chair in the window and the 2-seater couch are both broken (these were highlighted in previous reviews of the property).I have been in contact with the property owner both during our stay and afterwards, unfortunately they have not replied to my last email or message. They did mentioned a partial refund when we first contacted them, but we have had nothing since our return. The apartment has a lovely outlook, was an ideal size for what we needed and is well equipped. Had these few things been seen too before our arrival we would have had a much better start to our holiday.
