Lovely location, beautiful cottage perfect with all the en-suites. Equipment lets it down a little but didn’t spoil our holiday, but would have made it excellent like other cottage’s we’ve been to.

Courtyard Cottage was a peaceful retreat from busy places. It is in a beautiful spot surrounded by pretty gardens, woodlands, an atmospheric lake and some grand old buildings. The cottage was clean and attractive with three well appointed en-suite bedrooms. The living area has comfortable seats and a compact kitchen area, which may be a limitation for families/groups who want to do a lot of cooking. There is only a small fridge with basically an ice section so storage of food was tricky.Communications regarding the cottage were good and instructions given suitable to locate it.We took bed toppers as other reviews mentioned single mattresses were hard, and they were so we were most glad of this advice.Another issue for us was the lack of a good sized door mat or rug on entry, especially with two dogs in very wet weather. A small boot storage rack under the coat hooks would also help prevent issues with how to stop mud coming indoors.Overall we had a lovely week and would certainly stay here again if we planned another trip to the area.

Very warm and cosy. Need a boot tree or rack in hallway which would be better with a tiled floor. Comfy beds and basic equipment adequate but no extra toilet roll or washing up liquid. TV needs replacing a sound quality was fuzzy and poor qualityLocation and walks are breathtaking especially out of season!
