Woodpecker Rest is a well-received cottage in Cardigan, praised for its comfort, cleanliness, and welcoming hosts. Guests appreciate the thoughtful welcome packs and the property's suitability for dogs. Its location is ideal for exploring West Wales, with a cosy atmosphere that is particularly inviting during inclement weather.
The majority of guests found the cottage to be spotlessly clean, with only a couple of minor suggestions for improvement regarding the exterior and conservatory. The positive remarks far outweigh the negatives, indicating high standards of cleanliness.
The location is consistently praised for being peaceful, close to amenities, and an excellent base for exploring West Wales. Its proximity to beaches, towns, and natural attractions contributes to its high rating.
Guests describe the cottage as comfortable, warm, and cosy, with a charming character. The enclosed garden and the overall ambience of the property contribute to a relaxing stay, although there is a mention of the shower not being entirely suitable for adults.
The cottage is well-equipped, especially the kitchen, and provides amenities like OS maps and walking books. However, there are comments about the need for maintenance, such as changing blown glass panes and cleaning the conservatory, which slightly lower the score.
Hosts are commended for their thoughtfulness, providing welcome packs and considering the needs of both guests and their pets. While these gestures are highly appreciated, it is politely noted that such gifts are offered at the hosts' discretion and may not be guaranteed.

A great welcome. Welcome pack. Comfy beds. Wonderful Wildlife on site. We saw woodpeckers regularly and heard the barn owl most nights.

Wonderful holiday cottage, very comfortable and well equipped.Hosts were lovely, they were there if you needed anything, but not at all imposing.Weather was dreadful ( well it was January!) so we probably spent more time in the cottage than most, but it was warm and cosy and lovely to spend time in.The Cottage was well thought out, with lovely little touches such as; the lovely welcome pack when we arrived and small touches, like washing up liquid, sponges, hand soap, kitchen roll, some dishwasher tablets and clothes washing pods, small touches that meant you didn’t need to go and buy these things!Kitchen was well equipped with everything you could need.Outside in the sun room there were large dog bowls for water, laundry basket, iron, vacuum cleaner, broom, pegs, kids games, dvd’s etc. The binoculars were great for watching the woodpeckers and variety of birds in the garden.Garden and grounds were lovely.Short drive in to Cardigan for all amenities such as Tesco’s, Boots, independent shops, restaurants and pubs and close enough to drive to Poppit sands for lovely dog walks. As you can tell we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend.

Great stay between Christmas and over the New year. Everything you need, the property is connected to the owners house, but after initial greeting and helpful advice about the house and local things to do, we where left to our own devices. Big enclosed garden, it's not directly connected to the property, but is enclosed with a 3 foot fence, which our 2 staffies loved! We just had them on leads to the garden, then let them off for a run, may be an issue if your dog likes to jump or dig, but the owner explained this to us. The conservatory isn't useable when the weather is cold, but I imagine it's perfect in the warmer months. Great location, nice and secluded off a main road, 10 mins drive to Poppit beach, which is great for a long walk with the dogs, 5 minutes drive to Tesco/Aldi/B & M etc. Also, lots of pubs and places to eat in Cardigan itself, which again, is 5 mins drive away. We will definitely be booking to stay again!
