"Cottage was ideally situated for a walking week in the Brecon Beacons. Couldn't fault the cottage. Many walks on the doorstep."
    Phil M – 1 Sep 2020
"Lovely cottage - very compact but great design so room for everything without feeling cramped. In a small village with 2 great pubs - the Towpath Inn and Corn Exchange, the first of these just a few yards from the front door. Great location for exploring the Brecon beacons - loads to do and see in beautiful countryside. No private outside space but close to the canal so ideal for dog walking, We had a great week there."
    Mr Magurn – 1 Aug 2020
"Close to 2 very nice dog-friendly pubs and canal - so ideal for walking the dog. A small cottage but very intelligently laid out so there was space for everything you need for a week away. I'd definitely recommend for a couple with a dog for a break."
    Mrs Marsh – 1 Mar 2020
"Perfect for me and my dog when staying for the Crickhowell walking festival. The canal is right behind the cottage and enjoyed some lovely walks meeting lots of people and dogs. The pub was friendly next door, pizza on a Friday delicious. Fish n chip shop great also. I even went Welsh dancing in the village hall. A great location."
    Mrs Matthews – 1 Feb 2020

"We found it very comfortable, fiited with quality equipment and with the added bonus of great wifi, bluetooth sound system, freeview plus a good selection of DVD's/ books. Also appreciated the nice touch of the welcome basket on arrival. Gilwern is a friendly small town, perfect for exploring Brecon Beacons national park. Also close to Abergavenny, Brecon and Crickhowell which are all well worth a visit."
    Mrs Morse – 1 Aug 2019

Already booked two cottages again for next year..snowdonia in june and back to abergavenny in August.... Very satisfied customers, thanks again, Vic and bill morse "
    Mr Moitie, May 2019
    " Thank you. "
    Ms Nelson
" Would like to have had parking closer to the accommodation, but we were well aware that this would not be the case. People should be aware that this would definitely not be a good choice for anyone with any amount of mobility issues, due to the stairway in the unit. But we really enjoyed our short stay and would be happy to return next time we are in that area of Wales. :) "
    Mr Armstrong
" 00am and 6.00pm it is restricted to 1 hour only, and you cannot return for 2 hours, there is a Free Car Park in the village, which is a few minutes (depending on ability) from the cottage. In fairness the Owner Mr Jones emailed us with this information, but the info you sent out needs refreshing "
    Mrs Baer
" Bit smaller than I was expecting but it's lovely. Storage is well thought out. I felt very comfy and at home. Just a pity I had to go to work every day. Lovely location. I would suggest a curtain over the front door to make it more cosy. But both me and my dog were happy. So thank you. Would go back. "
    Mr Schmidt
"Warm welcome with presents. Thanks. No parking space like in the description told. Not nice long walks to car in the rain. No food in the pubs available. Sad."
    Mr Stephen
"The facilities in the cottage were first class, and of a high standard. All in all a very pleasant and relaxing holiday. Thank you."

"Situated near Abergaveny in Gilwern, a friendly village with shops including a butcher, Pubs that do good food. There is a fish and chip shop I would recommend too. This It is a good location for walkers and cyclists, the canal tow path is very close by. The Stable cottage is a good base for exploring the Brecon Beacons and the Black mountains. The welcome pack was a lovely surprise on arrival."
    Mrs Short
"A wonderful cottage in a lovely location. The only negative being that the no off road parking didn't cause any real problems, just slightly inconvenient."
    Mr Campbell
"A rather small but cleverly designed unit with more than adequate facilities. Lack of handy parking is unfortunate, the nearby free car park is a bit of a trek when it's wet."
    Mrs Moffat-thompson
"Updates on local facilities. Closest 2 pubs had closed down. It was listed as small but we didn't realise it would be this small so felt a bit claustrophobic. The bed was very uncomfortable. It's a dog friendly place but our dog struggled with the slippy wooden spiral stairs. On a positive a welcome basket of goodies was great. The way they had maximised the use of space and have all you need was good. Parking was not a problem."
    - Mrs Tucker, February 2016

If you want food Crickhowell is a local town, accessible easily by car with numerous pubs, shops, pharmacy and a social club. Also Abergavenny has lots of high street shops, a Wetherspoons and many places to eat. Dominios pizza, Abergavenny also delivers to this property if you want a quiet night in without needing to cook.
