Ganarew Cottage is generally praised for its cleanliness, spaciousness, and well-equipped nature, offering a comfortable stay in a picturesque setting. The property is well-suited for family gatherings and is appreciated for its quiet village location, despite some mentions of noise from a nearby road and adjacent care home. Guests have enjoyed the local walks and the convenience of nearby towns. Some minor maintenance issues and updates are suggested, but overall, the cottage receives positive feedback for its charm and amenities.
Reviews consistently mention the property being clean, with only a few minor comments about specific items needing attention, such as a mouldy shower mat. The overall impression is that the cottage maintains a high standard of cleanliness.
The location is appreciated for its picturesque surroundings and proximity to local attractions. However, some guests noted the presence of noise from the nearby A40 and the care home laundry, which slightly impacted the tranquillity expected from a rural cottage.
Guests find the beds comfortable and the living spaces ample for relaxation and family gatherings. Some reviews suggest the need for additional or updated furniture to enhance comfort further.
The property is well-equipped with a kitchen, games room, and washing facilities, but some guests reported issues with lighting, Wi-Fi, and a lack of certain kitchen items. Maintenance concerns, such as non-working lamps and the need for more crockery, suggest room for improvement.
While guests have mentioned thoughtful touches like scones, jam, and logs for the wood burner, there is not enough consistent information across reviews to accurately score this category. It should be noted that such gifts, while appreciated, are not guaranteed for every stay.

Great location for exploring the area. Lovely walks nearby and not far from Symonds Yat and Ross on Wye and Monmouth.

Just needs a little bit of TLC

The cottage is lovely and bigger than it looks, and in a quiet location, opposite a beautiful church. It was clean and fairly well equipped. It was easy to find, with only one member of the party ending up at the old peoples home! Which you don't know is there once at the cottage. Parking was great - we left a couple of cars just down the lane, and two on the drive. The area is fabulous; we walked form the house up to the hill fort, then down to Symonds Yat, across the ferry and to the Saracens Head. We ate in both the Saracens Head and the Old Ferrie Inn; both were fabulous, but the Ferrie had the edge. The only slight negatives were a few of the mugs were chipped, which was a shame and one of the sofas seems to have no seat cushions, so was a bit uncomfortable. The mugs would be an easy win. I would recommend the cottage and the area.
