About this property

Monmouth 7.6 miles. If you're looking for a relaxing holiday, then come and enjoy this charming, semi-detached cottage resting on a farm in Penhros near Monmouth, Monmouthshire. An ideal base for a family of four's rural getaway, the cottage enjoys views of the Black Mountains and Sugar Loaf. The off-road parking space makes it easy to get your holiday off to a stress-free start, so you can quickly get unpacked and explore the sights! Venture inside to be welcomed by a living/dining room, where you can grab a book from the offering available and curl up with a book on the armchairs or even take advantage of the separate reading area for some peace and quiet; the space also offers a charming dining table, where all the family can tuck into a delicious meal. These tasty meals can be prepared in the kitchen, a space hosting white units as well as a great selection of integrated appliances. After enjoying dinner, settle down in the sitting room, an exquisitely furnished spot which boasts ample seating for you to unwind on as you watch a show on the Smart TV and warm your toes by the gas fire. At the end of the day, throw any old clothing into the utility's washing machine and tumble dryer as well as another shower room, before heading upstairs to find two welcoming bedrooms, the first being a double bed enjoying fitted storage and an en-suite bathroom, and the other being a lovely twin room with large Velux windows and an en-suite bathroom. In the morning, head out to the front lawn with a cup of steaming coffee, where you can soak up those sights of the mountains and the idyllic pond. Be sure to embark on a hike along Offa's Dyke Park, which runs through the park and offers a gorgeous trek through the delightful scenery of Monmouthshire. Spend some time in Monmouth, a quirky town hosting the once glorious ruins of Monmouth Castle, access to The Rolls of Monmouth Golf Club which is just outside of Monmouth itself, as well as The National Trust property of The Kymin. If you're feeling adventurous, venture down one of the winding trails or up the peaks within the Wye Valley AONB, or head to the Forest of Dean, where the wonders of Clearwell Caves, Dean Forest Railway and the Forest of Dean Sculpture Trail await. Why not pay Ross-on-Wye a visit, a market town hosting the River Walk, the stunning Thomas Blake Memorial Garden, along with access to the South Herefordshire Golf Club. Usk and Abergavenny are also great places to visit, offering even more to see and do. A break packed with charm awaits at The Granary. Note: This property can be booked with Refs. 1052396 and 1052397, together sleeping up to eight guests.

From the historic castle remains to the active weekly market, this fascinating market town of Monthmouth, on the border between Wales and England, adjacent to the spectacular Offa's Dyke, blends old and new. Its location at the junction of three rivers – the Wye, the Monnow, and the Trothy – makes it an ideal base for river boating, picturesque hikes, and a little shopping, as well as to sit and relax on the side of the river and watch the rowers who race and practise their abilities on a regular basis.

The Granary was everything we hoped for. It truly is tucked away from everything, surrounded by peace and stars at night, perfect to rest the soul. I don't drive and it was no problem. We bought enough food and supplies to last the week so didn't need to go far afield. The Offas Dyke Walk runs straight through the farm and we thoroughly enjoyed our wet, muddy walks. Our hosts were extremely kind and showed us around the farm. Our little dog had an excellent time and enjoyed watching the squirrels. My children 14 and 9 have already asked me to book there again which I will do . Very comfortable, warm, spacious and very well equipped. Had everything we needed and more. We were sorry to leave.

There was the odd cobweb but this was an old property in the country and it is the time of year when spiders come in so to be expected. Owners were helpful and friendly. Surrounding roads were narrower than expected but easily passable with caution on bends and curves.

Its very remote and no shops on the way (if via M4 Newport) so bring all the necessities. However being remote means you are rewarded with stunning views and tranquility. Fyi Its a working farm that you are attached to. Agree also with feedback a token welcome bundle might be something to consider.
