Delfryn in Newport is a well-furnished cottage praised for its peaceful location, comfortable living spaces, and well-appointed kitchen. Guests appreciate the thoughtful welcome packs and the property's proximity to local amenities and scenic walks. The garden offers lovely views, enhancing the stay. Some minor maintenance and additional seating in the garden are suggested improvements.
The property generally maintains high standards of cleanliness, though a few guests noted areas with dust and cobwebs. These seem to be isolated incidents rather than a common trend.
The cottage's location is highly praised for being quiet yet conveniently close to the town centre, restaurants, pubs, and the beach, with beautiful views and easy access to walks.
Guests find the cottage very comfortable, with cosy sofas, comfortable beds, and a warm atmosphere. Some guests mentioned the firmness of pillows and the lack of heating in the bathroom as minor discomforts.
The property is well-equipped with a modern kitchen, TV, Wi-Fi, and a fenced garden. Some guests suggested improvements in recycling facilities and the provision of basic cleaning supplies.
While guests frequently mention and appreciate welcome packs, there is not enough information to assess the consistency of this thoughtfulness across all stays. Therefore, it cannot be guaranteed that such gifts will always be provided.
Nestled on the outskirts of the charming coastal town of Newport in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park is Delfryn. This attractive, stone-fronted cottage was originally a Woollen Mill, built circa 1880 and was converted into a domestic dwelling in 1920 and is located near Newport Castle. It benefits form a welcoming interior adorned with original, character features including, Victorian feature fireplaces; exposed, stone feature walls and original doors and windows. Cross the threshold into your new home-from-home where you can unwind in the sitting room, warm your feet by the gentle crackle of the woodburning stove and flick on the Smart TV while the designated chef of the group steps into the fully-equipped kitchen to prepare dinner.
Dine as a family in the dining room before heading outside and up the stone steps to your own garden with a view, where you can indulge in evening drinks while admiring the vista towards Newport Sands and the sea. When the sun disappears behind the horizon, head back inside to the first floor where you can wash off the day in the shower room before retiring to either the double, twin or single bedrooms. When morning calls, venture on a brief 2 minute walk into the heart of Newport where you can enjoy brunch at Blas at Fronlas or Tides Kitchen and Wine Bar before whiling away the day upon the golden sands of Newport Beach or take a leisurely walk in the sea air and along the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, with its breath-taking views across the north Pembrokeshire coastline.
Or for the more adventurous, just turn right out of Delfryn's front door and walk straight up Mill Lane onto the Preseli Hills and Caringli Mountain, which sits tantalisingly above your holiday base. Take a short drive out of the town where the history buffs of the group will enjoy a visit to the reconstructed Castell Henllys Iron Age Village and the picture postcard 5,500 year old Neolithic Burial Chamber at Pentre Ifan. Head further north to the market town of Cardigan where you can visit Cardigan Castle - the birthplace of the Welsh Eisteddfod in 1176. Alternatively, the wildlife lovers can enjoy all that nature has to offer at the Welsh Wildlife Centre in Cilgerran with views across the wetlands and take to the open water on a boat for a chance to spot the dolphins that reside in Cardigan Bay.
At the end of your day, head back to Newport where a delicious meal awaits in the Golden Lion or Castle Inn. For a fantastic holiday, perfect for families or friends, in a National Park, close to the coast and the amenities of town, choose Delfryn.

Delfyn is in a great location on a quiet side street right in the heart of Newport, but with private parking that is a rarity in the village, it is also less than a 15 minute walk to small harbour / beach and a 10 minute drive to the main 1.5km long sandy beach. The property is one of the best we have stayed in for both comfort and facilities, with note worthy areas including a great modern kitchen with all the facilities needed, a powerful shower, good size smart TV and fully fenced in garden area with views across the town to the sea. Newport also exceeded our expectations, a great selection of shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants most of which are dog friendly as well as multiple walks both coastal and hill straight from the door. We enjoyed it so much we have booked to come back in April for a family birthday. We would also like to say special thanks to the management company who got the property ready including a nice welcome pack in less than 24 hours over the Christmas holiday period.

The sofas in the living room and the beds were some of the most comfortable we've had. The galley kitchen was extremely well equipped and had everything we needed. We came with two medium sized dogs and we had plenty of room. Its location is perfect being on the outskirts close to the castle but on 5 minute walk to the centre. The road up to the house is quite narrow so if you have a larger SUV we would suggest approaching the cottage the long way round to make it easier. A very small thing was there was nothing on the front door that let you pull the door closed easily (very minor indeed but was the ONLY thing we thought) Would definitely stay here again. Loved it.
