After dinner, retreat inside where you can wash away the day’s adventures with a soak in the bath or freshen up in the walk-in shower. Explore the lively town, where you can treat your loved ones to a well-deserved supper at the Golden Lion, Castle Inn or Royal Oak, spot local wildlife at the River Nevern Wildfowl Conservation Area, or head straight to the beach for a day on the dunes. Those interested in history can visit the town's surroundings, which include the remarkable 5500 year old Neolithic Pentre Ifan Burial Chamber as well as Castell Henllys Iron Age Village. Meet the Gentle Giants at the Shire Horse Farm in Eglwyswrw and then visit Cardigan, birthplace of the Welsh Eisteddfod in Cardigan Castle and the Welsh Wildlife Centre in Cilgerran with its own imposing Norman castle, which are only a few miles further north. Heading west towards Fishguard, see the historic Fishguard Fort and then head down into the picturesque Lower Town harbour - the setting for Hollywood blockbusters Moby Dick starring Gregory Peck and Under Milkwood starring Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton! Newport is located on the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, which is world-renowned for its unique terrain and fantastic prospects for dolphin and seal spotting. All year round, wonderful seaside walks along the route or in the adjacent Preseli Hills with ever changing scenery are a walker's dream. Visit the mills, artisan centres, and castles strewn over the county to learn about history, or spend a day at the beautiful Castell Henllys Iron Age Fort to learn about life at the time firsthand. Visit the Shire Horse Farm to see the gorgeous Shire Horses or spend the day relaxing on one of the many beautiful sandy beaches. This is a great place for the whole family all year.
