Set on the edge of Abergynolwyn, a village that lies in the shadows of Cader Idris and situated between the popular seaside resort of Tywyn and market town Dolgellau, this beautiful detached barn conversion provides spacious accommodation, ideal for families wishing to enjoy the peace and tranquillity. Tywyn is surrounded by the Tarren Hills, and holds the 7-mile long Talyllyn Narrow Gauge Steam Railway that runs between Tywyn Wharf and Nant Gwernol. Nearby Tal-y-llyn lake and Talyllyn steam railway are always popular with visitors, as are the sandy beaches along Cardigan Bay. Some visitor attractions include the Centre for Alternative Technology, King Arthur’s Labyrinth, Animalarium, Coed-y-Brenin Forest and Portmeirion Italianate village. Other places to visit are Birds Rock, Castell y Bere, Dolgoch Falls Walk, Aberdovey, Corris slate mines and craft centres. The location is also great for easy access into Snowdonia. Three adults & a dog stayed at the Barn for a week in mid October at a discounted rate. This was particularly good value for the quality of accommodation provided and because the hot water / effective heating was available 24/7 if needed, which fortunately we didn't.The immediate location is good for several short or half-day walks, and the popular ascent up to Penygadair is only a short drive away. Tywyn is nearby for essential amenities, and has a leisure centre. Other towns and coastal resorts are between 30 & 60mins by car even with the improved sections of A roads. Drivers of larger vehicles be very cautious of sharp bends and when there are no central white lines!

This is a lovely house, in a beautiful location. It’s exceptionally well equipped and comfortable. The surrounding area is amazing, with a pub serving food up the road and lots of walks from the door. The Cascade walk is great, so are the Dolgoch Falls. Also lots to do a bit further a field. The garden is large and well fenced, but we did think our hyper active terrier could have escaped if left to her devices.

Our family spent a wonderful week at this barn conversion. It was very comfortable and in amazing surroundings. We were blessed with glorious weather which made Cemetery Beach a hit and enjoyed days out on the Talyllyn Railway, at Corris Craft Centre (Labyrinth and Maze a hit with the children) and on local walks. Railway Inn provided good sustenance and a warm vibe. Tiny niggle; no tin opener!!
