What our customers say about their holidays

  • Joan - Verified booking

Lovely 4 night stay at the Tractor Shed.

Clean tidy & well presented. Had everything you needed ( tho maybe a small chest of drawers may be handy). The garden furniture was a bonus, table, chairs, hammock, fire pit if you wanted to sit outside. You are close to a B road so you can hear a bit of traffic but it wasn't too busy. You have to park on the owners drive & walk round their house to get to the cottage which is in a huge garden/field, very pleasant seeing the sun set. Owners very friendly, helped with carrying luggage to the cottage. If you like walks, there are plenty of footpath signs but you may need an OS map to start you off (we didn't as it was a spur of the moment decision) so we had to get in the car & find a place to stop & start a walk. Took us a while to find a lay by to park up. We did eventually find a lovely walk across beautiful countryside in the Teme valley & had a great sunday lunch at The Lions Head in Clifton-on- Teme. The Malvern hills are about 30mins drive. Can recommend The Masons Arms up the road to Martley & the Bell Inn. We went the Cob cafe down the road just for a coffee which was nice, they have pathways around fishing lakes & a few animals for children. All in all a lovely cottage in beautiful surroundings.

Unfortunately our Holiday got off to a bad start.

On arrival it became apparent that the Gas Boiler that provided all of the heating and hot water was not working which in mid February is not ideal. We contacted the Managing Agent as listed in the information pack and we spoke with a Gentleman called Sean. He was in Gloucester at the time of calling but said he would be with us in about an hour and true to his word he was. On closer inspection he said a specialist Engineer would be required so Sean called an Engineer and arranged for him to be with us the following morning at 8.30 and again true to his word the Engineer was on time and within half an hour we finally had heat and hot water. Sean also returned home on the first evening and came round with an electric Radiator for us to use so we would just like to say a big Thank You to Sean for exemplary Customer Service. Once everything was sorted we really enjoyed our stay at the Old Bothy. The Property is very well equipped and is in an idyllic location . We would definitely return in the future

Lovely hosts with a wealth of information on the local area and a really nice property with a great deal in its favour, however, the lack of attention to detail stopped it from achieving a 5 star rating, e.

    G. no non slip bath mat for a bath/shower combination, two broken chairs, mould around the shower partition, if you cannot perch on high bar stool chairs at the breakfast bar a small occasional table has to used for meals, the sitting out area is overgrown with weeds with no chairs which would need to be taken down a flight of stairs from the house to be used. Fully accept the house is located within a business area, however, loading/unloading of vehicles starts around 7am in the car park area which is overlooked by the bedroom window and farm machinery working in adjacent field until 12.30 am was not conducive to a good nights sleep. The property promotes the fact that a farm shop is on the premises which is obviously a draw for prospective customers so a small discount within the shop when used by the ‘guests’ would be a nice gesture. Each small issue above would not deter a return visit, but taken together, they did take the lustre off which would otherwise have been a 5 star rating

I found the property easy to find and the owners welcoming.

The cottage is ideally positioned for exploring Ledbury and surrounding areas as well as easy access to rail and bus services. There was a good dog walk called the Town Trail which took you into Ledbury. The cottage was clean and has clearly been well used as it was little tired in places and would benefit from some upgrading e.g. replacing the sofa as the cushion support has gone on one side, better cutlery, condiments and perhaps a new cooker although this works perfectly well. I found the sink in the toilet too small to wash in so had to use the kitchen sink - but not a problem for me. One factor which I did find a little concerning was the property is directly opposite Sequani - a research institute which is involved in testing on animals. There were some protests outside the facility for short times on some days. As an animal lover - I probably would not have booked here had I known. However I had an enjoyable holiday with my dog and am grateful for the property owners hospitality.

We are a couple and stayed in The Barn in April 2018.

The directions were clear and the location was peaceful and tucked away. The Barn is up a set of stairs and opens up into an open plan living room and kitchen, a home away from home. Comfy sofas, tv and DVD player and a small woodburner are in the living room and the kitchen was well stocked and had everything we needed, including strong wifi. The double bedroom had a beautiful view overlooking the fields and plenty of storage, The bathroom is small but works well with an over the bath shower. The whole property is filled with natural daylight. The Barn is about a 10-15 min drive from Whitchurch and we found the location easy to use as a base to visit nearby villages and larger towns. Overall we had a wonderful 5 days, we felt like we lived there rather than on holiday and would recommend The Barn to anyone wanting a low maintenance self catering holiday.
