  The cottage is in a great position on the High Street in such a lovely village with very friendly people and amazing countryside.

  The cottage is generally good but there were a few issues. On cleanliness I was disappointed to find that the grill pan hadn't been cleaned properly and there were crumbs under the toaster. On facilities there were 3 overhead lights where bulbs had either gone or were absent, including in the front porch which is essential if coming back to the cottage late. We bought 3 light bulbs. Generally the lighting seemed dim in all rooms and not easy to read by (no lamp on right hand side of bed in back room). Also there only seemed to be one sharp knife in the kitchen. The bungalow at the back has a very bright security light which came on several times each night and woke us up. The back bedroom needs thicker curtains to counteract that. The website pictures show a sitting area screened by a holly hedge but actually this is where the wheelie bins are kept so a bit misleading. You can still sit nearer the back door if you don't mind being open to the driveways of adjacent cottages and people passing on the footpath. We did find the sitting room a bit soulless and a rug would have made it seem more comfortable. Personally I found the settee and chairs too low and uncomfortable so spent the week sitting on either a dining chair (by the way, one of these is broken and nearly collapsed on me) or one of the garden chairs.   The property was fabulous and is in a fantastic location.

  Exactly what we were looking for. Communication from the host was excellent and he sent us a really useful information pack via email in advance, which was much appreciated. There were also some very kind supplies provided on arrivals which was very kind and a lovely thing to do. As I say the stay was really great and the only part that caused us concern was the access to one side in the loft bedroom between the narrow stair access. The loft room.is split in two and the left hand side (when assending the stairs) of the loft bedroom (1 single bed to each side which was split by the staircase) led straight into the void of the top of the staircase and even although there was a stairgate provided, due to the layout it could be used slightly further down the stairs. This did still leave the real possibility that the children could drop down a few steps into the top of the narrow stairwell. We improvised by moving the bedside cabinet to block of the drop area and put the eldest (5 year old) of the two children into the bed located in that side of the loft room.

  Lovely comfortable cottage.

  Beautiful setting. Ideally suited for visiting National Trust properties Croft Castle and Berrington Hall both worth a visit. Plenty of very pretty villages nearby with loads of history. Good food to be had in local pubs and also in onsite bar. The only negative was on our first morning as we prepared breakfast the hob fused the electrics. There was no answer on the emergency number so we had to go out for breakfast. We notified Reception and although the electrics were back on when we got back later in the day no one got back to us to let us know whether it was safe to use the hob. Two days later we were contacted to be told an electrician would be calling that day. Again no one let us know the outcome until I called reception. I was told the hob was safe to use as long as some of the other electricals were not used at the same time (not very practical for catering purposes). I think a new hob should be installed.

  We had a lovely few days at Willow Cottage.

  The first few days were spent enjoying g the lovely, comfortable facilities, being grounded by Storm Bert! It was amazing, and a little concerning, watching the River Severn slowly claim the front garden. Once we’d been reassured by our lovely neighbours that it was ok we simply enjoyed the spectacle!! Once the sun came back we spent a lovely day in Ledbury and another in Upton. The cottage was very well equipped and had everything we needed. One very small suggestion, maybe a small nest of tables in the lounge? We would definately recommend Willow Cottage and appreciated the phone call from the owner, a couple of days before our visit, during which he outlined all the facilities, key collection details etc. Thank you, also, for the milk/tea/coffee/biscuits awaiting g us on our arrival.

  From arrival to departure our stay was all that we hoped for.

  To begin with the welcome pack was very much appreciated. The property was lovely and ideal for the four of us and the dog (enclosed garden meant the dog was safe to wander). There was a problem with the TV when we arrived, we contacted our hosts straight away that evening and by the following day they were sorting it (not as if we were planning to watch much TV anyway). Alton is ideally situated for Alton Towers, the local pubs are good, Denstone Hall Farm Shop and Ramblers Retreat Cafe are worth a visit and there are a few local walks which we took too. Although the parking is over the road and at the time there were some roadworks there we still managed to find parking each time it came for us to park.
