What our customers say about their holidays
Mark - Verified booking
En-suite shower non-existent, very poor water pressure meaning all 4 guests had to use one rather than being able to use both as advertised.
Headboard in bedroom adjoining the en-suite - very loose and away from the wall which caused disturbances through the night for all Thick of dust on top of picture frame in non-ensuite bathroom, clearly hadn't been wiped for months as there was much that much dust. Cupboard door in kitchen off its hinges, hanging off which was a hazard should the door have come off. Lack of tea-towels and pan scrubbers - clearly a money making exercise as other towels could be rented for additional costing!? Property was excessively hot but we had no control over the heating at all and this caused a lot of discomfort for a person who has fibromyalgia (sensitive to temperatures) No welcome pack like you see in all other lets - this was quite hostile and upsetting as you would expect to see nice little biscuits, tea/coffee to welcome you....but nothing Lack of accessibility which caused huge upset for my parents - no hand rails down the very slippy and poorly positioned slate steps to the entrance of the property. No guard rails for the shower facilities, which my mother needs but we didn't know there was a lack of such things at time of booking. It upset my mother's dignity and she felt embarrassed that she needed so much help around the property as a result of Lack of thought around this property. We even had to request a bath mat to make the shower/bath safer but due to lack of walk in shower (en-suite water pressure) my mother felt this really impacted her hygiene as unable to use a "shower over bath" facility. The staff on site however were helpful and did offer to change us to a different let however this would have been more upheaval for frail parents with mobility issues. We will not be going back to Low Briery holiday park, for the money we expected much more for £625 for low season. A very disappointing stay but more upsetting is lack of accessibility and the fact there is no mention of this in the cottage details - customers should be made aware of this prior to booking so they can seek a let with accessibility in mind. It should be detailed within the write-up/specification Please be mindful when booking and to request further information regarding accessibility should this be something you require.

Asta Cottage is in a fabulous location, within a couple of minutes walk to an amazing beach!
We were welcomed with a few essentials and a much appreciated bottle of wine and chocolates - a lovely touch. The cottage is well equipped with absolutely everything you might need in the kitchen - far better than I've come across in other cottages. It also has lots of lovely extras such as buckets and spades, plus all you might want for a picnic. The TV is the biggest I've ever seen and comes with a Sky package. The lounge is huge and filled with chairs and sofas, so there's plenty of room for everyone! There were just a small few negatives which, obviously, are subjective but did affect our stay. The heating in the upstairs large en suite room was not working correctly. I did have a conversation with the owner about it which was helpful but didn't solve the problem. I'm no plumber but I believe the radiators need bleeding since they were lukewarm at the bottom and stone cold at the top. The hot water bottles were a nice touch and well needed. The ground floor en suite bedroom would be perfect for someone with limited mobility - however this is the only bathroom which has an over bath shower (the upstairs bathrooms have walk-in showers). We all agreed that this bathroom would have been much better if it was more accessible. Overall, we had a great holiday and I would return to Asta Cottage!

We had such a lovely stay in Asta Cottage for our Christmas celebrations.
We arrived the day before Christmas Eve for a 4 night stay with my family including 3 dogs. We arrived to some lovely treats we enjoyed during the stay but what was particularly lovely was the beds layed out ready for our dogs and treats for them. Itâs so nice knowing that our fur family are as welcome as we are, it really adds to the experience. Maxine could not have been more helpful before our stay and during. It was a busy time for everyone preparing for Christmas but she took the time to make it special. The cottage is ideal for a family with a very large living room and plenty of seating which makes a difference as we have stayed in a lot of other places when you have to either squish up on settees or get dining chairs in the room. The cottage was clean and well maintained. We would love to stay in the summer months as the garden area is lovely. One of the best parts though is how close to the beach the cottage is. You can see it from the house and very easy to get to. One tiny addition that we would have found helpful would be to have a coat rack in the corner as you come in the house. With the weather being mixed we had a lot of big coats that were wet and needed carrying through the house. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Our stay at The Pippins was brilliant. So much so that we decided to stay an extra 2 nights, which Kay and Eric readily accommodated at very short notice even though it required a move to one of their other lovely cottages as The Pippins was already booked. The cottage itself is spacious and comfort.... Our stay at The Pippins was brilliant. So much so that we decided to stay an extra 2 nights, which Kay and Eric readily accommodated at very short notice even though it required a move to one of their other lovely cottages as The Pippins was already booked. The cottage itself is spacious and comfortable with stunning views, especially at sunset. Kay and Eric were warm, friendly hosts and a great source of local knowledge. There were so many scenic walks and tea room gardens nearby that it didn't matter in the slightest that lockdown was still partially ongoing. We will definitely be returning to this lovely cottage in beautiful Somerset again.

The house was generally very pleasant and of course we loved the area.
The accommodation was very spacious, beautifully decorated and clean, and the beds were particularly comfortable. However, the items provided in the kitchen require urgent reassessment. Although the plates, glasses and cutlery were good, there were no dishes suitable for cooking anything in the oven - no casserole, no pie dish, no roasting tin, nothing suitable for cooking for the residents of a house for eight. No scales or measuring jug - none of the basics. This made catering for the group really tricky and necessitated the purchase of a suitable dish, which Sykes - and the owner - refused to refund. Although it didn't spoil our holiday, it did present a degree of inconvenience which we have never experienced in any of the many cottages we've stayed in over the years. It was unexpected, particularly given the quality (and cost) of the accommodation. And the refusal to refund (or provide something) left an unfortunate lasting impression.
