What our customers say about their holidays
Jessie - Verified booking
First time stay at Ty Cynon We couldnât check in on time we had to wait 30 minutes as the cleaners was still there Iâm a high standard lodge cleaner at a holiday park this is not except able it needs a deep clean .
and no excuse for this as myself a cleaner had to be done all the lodges by 2pm I saw the cleaners had no mop bucket only a hoover the floors even tho they are wooden should be mopped every change over day I wiped the kitchen floor the wipe was black not the cleanest of cottages thick dust and hairs in lots of places spiders and cobwebs behind the sofa and other places the cleaners are hoovering around furniture not moving it as underneath the table and coffee table food and dust as a cleaner myself we had to do this every change over day itâs not expectable at least the cleaners did turn up at the accommodation as last place we stayed with Sykes the cleaners didnât turn up hadnât been cleaned. A bit of let down with Sykes again not sure who responded for the cleaning if itâs the owner or Sykes . A good cottage in a good location for us . We stay in lots of lodges and cottages in north wales and in Blaenau Ffestiniog.Good Wi-Fi . Good views Everything we needed the owner thought out lots of things and the shed was lots in there to go to beach and crabbing etc . Very well equipped. only thing the tin opener needs replacing I normally take one myself but I had forgotten it things like this could be checked by the cleaners . Stained cups and lots of dirty pans which I had to re wash yet again this should be the cleaners job . myself as had cleaner had to check on all kitchen equipment on every change over day . Couldnât sit outside the bins smelt of maggots and lots of midges outside and couldnât sit outside the back garden kept biting us and couldnât have the windows and doors open they kept coming in . Think the bins should be moved into the car park space, car parking is over the road signed posted . Itâs on a small road but lots of public paths so lots of people do walk by . No instructions on who and what days and where the bins go out I only saw the neighbours put them out so I put them out never had to do this before at a holiday let itâs shouldnât be the guests responsibility to do this. No information pack folder either which normally there is in a holiday let inside the folder instructions on how to use tv . Cooker . Microwave . . Washing . Tumble drying . The wifi code check in and check out times. Owners details. What need to do on check out day strip bedding which I done lot of this in a holiday lets buy normally a laundry bag to put it in there isnât one . Walks round the area. How far nearest beach. Snowdon . Nearest Bankâs supermarket.pubs cafes. Tearooms . Restaurants . Hospitals . Doctors. . Chemist. . Dentist. Opticians. Etc. my feedback on the first I put bad as Sykes do ask how was the first night they did phone myself the next day and asked did I want a cleaner to come back again I did refuse this as I didnât want them coming in when I had all my stuff inside. Just slight improvement needed.

The cottage was beautiful, lovely fireplace and felt really comfy for our family to have cosy, board game nights by the fire.
The hosts left a bottle of wine and some chocolates which was a lovely touch (although Iâm heavily pregnant so couldnât drink the wine.) The property itself was lovely and just as expected. The reason Iâve rated slightly lower for facilities and amenities is due to two things. 1) The location is really a 20 minute drive from anywhere nice. The actual town itself is a bit run down and finding good food there was a struggle. However, if youâre happy with the drive then thereâs a few good places in Porthmadog and also the Ty-Gwyn restaurant was AMAZING!! 2) This was due to the lack of essentials - we were provided with one toilet roll (for a family of 3 - including a pregnant woman who is weeing every 2 mins) and when questioned about where I can find more, I was informed that guests usually bought their own on their first shopâ¦. Using the toilet is a basic need and I wouldnât have expected to have had to buy my own loo roll. They did say I could use one from the cleaners cupboard when I realised Iâd ran out but I think for a 4 night stay there should be at least 3/4 loo rolls available. Similarly, a main feature of the cottage is the fireplace and it would have been nice to be provided with enough firewood for our stay. We were provided with one bag which lasted the first evening and the hosts also said we could use some spare firewood when we had a power-cut but again, we were expected to buy our own for the last 3 nights. As the fireplace is the main source of heating/hot water, therefore a basic need, again I feel this should have been provided. Overall, a lovely cottage with beautiful scenery, lots of things to do just a 20 minute drive or so away and the hosts were friendly. Just ensure you pack some extra loo roll and jumpers for your visit so you donât get stuck on the loo/ cold if you run out of firewood.

I was a little worried after reading the last review, however it could not have been further from the truth!
We found it to be spotless, comfortable and very well equipped . Everything was excellent quality, furniture was good quality and very comfy sofas ( we had our own sofa blanket for the dog but blankets were supplied ) . Clearly time and effort has been invested in this lodge to make it so comfortable. It looks like the outside of the lodge has recently been refurbished to a high standard and we had a lovely evening sitting outside the lodge on a quiet still evening. Beds were really good. comfortable and we had a great nights sleep. It's a very nice quiet clean park. It is a great base for seeing the local area. Having been in hospitality for years my baseline is always whether or not I would stay again, and I would absolutely stay here again, really enjoyed our stay! Well situated to enjoy the local attractions, A must is an afternoon at Clovelly which is a half hour drive. The National Trust Sandymouth Bay Beach is two miles away , we went there every morning with our dog who loved the rock pools as we enjoyed a coffee overlooking the bay . Live music at Crooklets Beach Bar in Bude and dinner in the local village pub close to the park (Kilkhampton ) , perfect end to a perfect stay. We will be back !

Last year when we were searching properties for our next sojourn north of the border we stumbled across 'Gaidrew'.
It was a little bit more than our budget allows but it was in an area of Scotland that we hadn't explored before. When reading through the previous reviews, I must admit we thought, "Really? The cottage can't be THAT good!" Nevertheless, we decided to give it a go. To say that it it is as good as the previous reviews would be be doing Fiona, Gill and Crawford, aka 'The A Team', an injustice. If Venice Simplon-Orient Express, Cunard, or for that matter Carlsberg did holiday cottages, 'Gaidrew' would be up there with them. The quality of the furnishings, the equipment, the fittings and the attention to detail is simply outstanding. Not to mention the most comfortable bed we have had the pleasure to sleep in away from home, ever! To stay in a place like this with 90 acres of farmland where you can wander freely with 400 sheep for company is heaven. There is even a little nature area set up by a burn that feeds into Endrick Water, the river that runs through the farm, where you can sit quietly soaking in the peace and tranquillity with the company of the deer. There are plenty of walks either from the cottage or a short drive away to take in the breath taking scenery. An unforgettable holiday, thank you.

We booked Gaidrew Cottage because we wanted somewhere we could relax.
What a great choice, we were made to feel so welcome when we were met at the cottage and given a quick tour, everything was immaculate and the owners have clearly taken a lot of time to consider the decoration of the cottage, the furniture is comfortable and the overall ambience of the property is wonderful. The beds and bedding are something else, comfortable, warm and tasteful. Cleanliness is obviously important to the owners and the cottage is spotless without being clinical, a home from home for us. Everything you need is at the cottage and the owners provide things you never even considered. As a base to explore Loch, Lomond, Loch Katrine and The Trossachs the cottage is ideally placed and Glasgow, Edinburgh and Stirling are within easy reach. The village of Drymen is really close by and the Spar there is well stocked, there is also a bakery/deli, two pubs, The Clachan is well worth a visit. But back to the cottage, if you are considering booking then go for it, we cannot recommend it highly enough and we doubt you will be disappointed. We certainly were not and at some point we will be returning. Beautiful.
