We had a perfect 3 week holiday in a perfect house, Church View, in a perfect town, Rye E.
Sussex. The kitchen and bathroom have modern, contemporary fittings and equipment. The kitchen was generously supplied with utensils and food staples. There was more than enough thick and luxurious towels. The owners provided an extra cleaning mid way through our stay at no cost. Church View is small and fairly presented in the photos and is sufficient for two adults. The main bedroom had a comfortable bed and enough storage. As advertised, stairs to upper levels are steep, with narrow steps; care must be taken when descending. The top floor bedroom with twin beds is a bonus but 4 people in the house would be crowded. Units on both sides of Church View are short term rentals. We heard noise and conversations clearly from both sides. The owners agreed to intervene if we had made a complaint. The single dining table should have four smaller chairs that fit better around the table; we entertained several friends for meals and it was difficult to fit everyone in. Our stay at Harbour Cottage was an absolutely smashing and memorable experience. From the moment we arrived, we were enveloped in a sense of calm and a proper cosy atmosphere. The cottage was spick and span, and all the creature comforts you could ask for were there for a really comfortable stay. The location of the cottage in Rye is brilliant, offering easy access to the town's sights and the lovely scenery around about. We particularly enjoyed being so close to the harbour and being able to potter about the old streets. The host was ever so kind and helpful and was always on hand if we needed anything during our stay. The information provided before we arrived was spot on and their tips for exploring the area were really valuable. Without a doubt, we'd recommend Harbour Cottage to anyone after a peaceful and delightful getaway in Rye. We're already looking forward to our next trip to this lovely cottage!

From the moment we walked in the door, we fell in love with the cottage. It’s cosy and comfortable and in an amazing location. The welcome basket was exceptional and overall the cottage is very well equipped. Cooking on the range was a bit of an adventure, but not difficult once we got the hang of it. Everything was clean and tidy and the shower was lovely (we had no problem with low water pressure as someone else commented). The stairs are VERY steep and I wouldn’t recommend it for young children or anyone with mobility issues, plus my husband kept banging his head on the back door and when coming downstairs. But we would definitely stay here again

The house is centrally located in Rye. It's just a short walk to train station, shops, restaurants and bars. If you are a cask ale fan, then you are just 100m from a very welcoming and friendly micropub with at least eight cask ales and a range of ciders too. They do a great scotch egg and pork pie too! The Ypres Castle Inn was great too. For food, then we loved Webbe's at the Fish Cafe. Camber sands is a short cycle away on an off road cycle route, and the sea is not cold (in June)! We arranged a great vineyard tour in the local area too. Also recommend a visit to Bodiam Castle and Dungerness for end of world feel.

Property itself had a really lovely modern interior with all the facilities you could possibly need. We loved the hot tub too! We spent early mornings in the garden enjoying the stunning views. The owners kindly left us a lovely welcome pack of bread, eggs, bacon & lots of other goodies. Lots of lovely places to visit nearby. Rye is a lovely town & Camber sands is a great beach. We are National Trust members & found lots of lovely properties & gardens nearby to visit. We would definitely recommend Birch Cottage as the perfect place to stay whilst exploring this beautiful part of the country.
